Will3 465
Returning to a place you had a bad time can be difficult. But for captain Shubham Anand, returning to the city and team he struggled hard in both on and off the ice has gone better that anyone could have guessed. The right winger from India has started producing points consistently and off the ice has adapted to the role of team leader. Here is how Shubham is doing in his return to Vasteras. To say that things started off on the wrong foot in the VHLE is a gross understatement. Falling to the late 3rd round in a four round draft already made Shubham upset at the GMs who he felt slighted him. It didn't help that the Vasteras Iron Eagles of this time were a non-competive disorganized mess of a franchise. The problems on the ice made setting in and getting used to living in a new strange place difficult. It all eventually came to a head and thirty-seven games in the season Shubham was traded to the Geneva Rush. Everything would be better for him in the thirty-four remains games and he decided to stay in the E for the next season with his loyalty being awarded with the C patch on his jersey next season. In the offseason, however, the nessary contraction of the E would cause the Rush to replace the failing Iron Eagles leaving Shubham in an unusual and awkward predicament. Vasteras locals have heralded Shubham as a prodigal son who has come back to lead the Iron Eagles back to glory. He has accepted this role and has done fantastic work being an ambassador for the team, leading charity drives throughout the town, having a positive impact on the community. He has learned Swedish to better interact with fans and media and help in this ambassadorial role. Many of the rookies have looked up to Shubham and he has helped them with situations on and off the ice. While the team may be disappointed with the inconsistent start, but one thing that has been consistent has been Shubham. In this young season of eighteen games, he is above a point per game with five goals and fourteen assist. That number of assist is more than the number he had with either team last season. He is also one point away from tying his point total with both teams last season. Needless to say a calmer, more settled Shubham is a dangerous Shubham. If this keeps up he will be the legend that the fans have hyped him to be. A return to the place where you hade a hard time can be difficult. The trauma of the situation can leave you jaded, bitter and fill you with a desire to just move on and forget. Not only has Shubham Anand return to that place, but he has done so much work in his return on and off the ice that it overshadows everything that has come before. It is a remarkable thing to see. Perhaps he can lead the Iron Eagles to the glories of a championship. Shubham Anand is certainly leading like a champion.
