MOSCOW, September 4, 2023 (Shaiba.ru) – The Seattle Bears are on a hot streak. They have won six out of their last seven games, and after a rough start, and have pulled away from the Chicago Phoenix, Calgary Wranglers, and New York Americans from the basement of the North American Conference. At this stage, the Bears are currently in fourth position, and look to be locked in a battle with the Vancouver Wolves for places in the play in, although with the Pacific Northwest team could be in a strong position to be chasing the leaders – Toronto Legion, Los Angeles Stars, D.C. Dragons.

One of the shining lights for the Bears over the past run has been captain, Yaroslav Bogatyrev. After another slow start, the Big Boga has 11 points over his last 6 games. In total, Bogatyrev has 29 points through 23 games, and if he keeps up this form, the captain could be well on his way to setting career-best marks in all major categories.

Once again, Shaiba.ru was fortunate to sit down with Yaroslav Bogatyrev, to discuss what may be the best form of his career so far.

Shaiba: So Yaroslav, the Bears have been on a fantastic run over the past week. What do you put this success down to?

Yaroslav: It’s been a great run for us so far. It’s been a great turnaround after we started off poorly. We knew that starting off like that was unacceptable and we would have to make changes. I think the coaching staff has done well juggling things around and starting to find things that worked. I also thought there was a bit of a cloud over the team after the way we went out of the playoffs last time, and because of the losses that we suffered over the offseason. Now we’re starting to find our feet, and I think I’m also getting used to what it means to have the C on my chest and what I need to give to the team for us to be successful. Of course, we won’t rest on our laurels. We have to keep this going, because it’s not going to get any easier for us. The teams at the top of the conference are super strong, and we’ve shown that we can compete with them, but we need to make sure that we’re consistently beating them.

Shaiba: Can Seattle challenge for the Continental Cup this season?

Yaroslav: I don’t see why not. I think the team still has some space to move things around at the deadline and give us the depth that we need. I think in terms of top talent, when it comes to our top lines, I think we match up well with any team in the league. We could add some depth, but of course, what team doesn’t want to add depth. We just need to keep on grinding out wins and get our foot in the door, because maybe it will be a good thing not to be favourites going in this year.
