Arce 755
We have read the intrigues of past snubs throughout the week so far, but what about potential future snubs? The VHL has seen some great players, but only the truly elites make it into the Hall of Fame. Toronto Legion center Ronan Lavelle is on the final stretch of his career. Lavelle has had an interesting run, and one that will at least be worth looking at by the board to see if he is worthy of getting in the big hall. Starting off ice cold in DC, to a clutch cup winner, to one of the best forwards in the league in Moscow. Can he seal the deal with the Toronto Legion? Ronan Lavelle has played for the DC Dragons the first half of his career and the Moscow Menace and Toronto Legion in the later half. Lavelle has found great success wherever he has gone production wise. Currently, Lavelle sits just shy of 700 career points at 699, has eclipsed 300 career goals and is on the verge of hitting 400 career assists. After a rough rookie season of scoring just 40 points as a member of the DC Dragons. Lavelle has scored at least 90 points, and 38 points each season, including two seasons over the century mark in points and two 50+ goal seasons. Lavelle gives credit to his start to HOF Menace and Dragon forward, Duncan Idaho who was a huge help for Lavelle elevate his game, and get his confidence where he needs it to be. Lavelle has earned a trophy named after himself for MVP in the VHLE. He then won the Dustin Funk Trophy for most improved in S84. Lavelle has two Mike Szatkowski Trophies and a Brett Slobodzian to match. You can see Lavelle was very well decorated in Moscow, he had the chance to play with forward Tomas Sogaard and defenseman Hammar Voss. Lavelle and Sogaard took turns getting the goal scoring title, and were shipped off to Toronto together. Another chance for something great? Both are hoping for an opportunity beyond the regular season. They still have a little less than half a season to finish the story. Although Lavelle has been apart of 3 different squads, there is definitely a sense of loyalty to him as well. He spent half his career in DC, and then said he would spend the rest of his career in Moscow. When Moscow decided it was time to take a step back to rebuild, Lavelle put the team first and allowed them to trade him to get in much needed value. Will leadership also play a part here? Ronan Lavelle has not only been decorated in the regular season, but has had success in the post season as well. For one, he has never missed the postseason in the VHL. Lavelle paved the way for the DC Dragons Continental Cup in S85, as he won the Daisuke Kanou Trophy honors as the playoff MVP. Overall Lavelle has 79 career playoff points in 56 games. A very even 39 goals and 40 assists for the balanced forward. Perhaps another impressive postseason run here could be the make or break for the 3 team forward? Lavelle’s success in Moscow was unfortunately stunted by early playoff exits. Those are team based, but one has to wonder how such talented teams got bounced so early and often fro the big show. Were the Moscow Menace FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY themselves?!
