Straight out of Sugar Rush, Vanellope von Schweetz takes on hockey. von Schweetz grew tired of tearing up the racing scene and is now taking on the blue line in the VHLM. von Schweetz recently struck a deal with the defending champion San Diego Marlins, who are poised to make another run. But what does Vanellope von Schweetz bring to the Marlins blue line, and beyond?

Pros:

Skating: Speed has always been something that has come naturally to Vanellope von Schweetz as a racer. This transitioned to skating, as when she is on the ice, she is one of the fastest skaters out there. von Schweetz is the first one back on defense and quick to follow her fellow forwards into the zone for an offensive rush. Reliable skating gives her the ability to be such a strong part of both zones.

Offense: one of Vanellope von Schweetz’s major upsides is her offensive game. She is a strong power play QB, and is one of the best defenseman during the transition through the neutral zone to the offensive zone. Her slapshot from the blue line is dangerous. Even if it doesn’t find the back of the net, it definitely generates an offensive rebound for her teammates.

Puck handling: Vanellope von Schweetz has some of the best set of hands you will see on a hockey player. Once she gets possession of the puck it is difficult to get it off of her. Scouts tribute von Schweetz’ puck handling as a big factor to her offensive success. When you’re able to dance your way into the offensive zone, it’s a recipe for success.

Cons:

Size: One downside to Vanellope von Schweetz is her size. She is not tall, nor is she big. So this makes von Schweetz vulnerable to getting hit, and limits her reach for the poke check. von Schweetz compensates for this with her speed and puck handling. Although she is small, she is still hard to get off the puck even physically with her superior puck handling.

Discipline: Because von Schweetz finds herself on the receiving end of hits, this can lead to frustration. Frustration can lead to unnecessary penalties. von Schweetz is known to be quite the hot head, and will get into it with someone who has delivered her one too many hits. Thing is, she doesn’t do her team any favors being in the box. Her team needs her on the ice for the power play, not being the cause of a penalty kill.
