It's been 9 days since the Toronto Legion were crowned S91 Continental Cup Champions. While celebrating over the holidays has been a blast, it is time to focus on the upcoming season, and the difficulty that lies in being the team that everybody is looking to unseed as Champion.

Training camps open in just 2 days, which means that the returning Legion players (there are many) will be entering camp with a target on their backs. It is telling that many of the Legion players who were available to head to free agency opted to stay in Toronto and defend the title. Their task now is to continue to improve and work to fill the holes left by retiring players Tomas Sogaard and Dens Oden.

The Legion have leaders Mac Atlas, Jimi Jaks, Bobby Bob, and Joel Castle under contract already. Atlas, Jaks, and Castle all have 1 more year left on their deals (Castle picked up an option to stay), while Bob has 1 year and a mutual option for S93. On the younger side of the roster, Diego Machado and Harry Callahan both signed matching 3 year extensions to stay in Toronto, while Walter Fitzroy Jr. has 1 year left before free agency. The open slots on the roster include 2 forwards, 2 defense, and a back up goaltender.

In order for the Legion to be back where they were last season, they'll need the younger group to take a big step forward this season and continue to develop into regular contributors. That hard work must start now, with camp about to get underway.
