The Big Latvian defenseman Guntis Gavilrovs was part of two drafts this week, first the VHL draft where he went 7th overall to the Vancouver Wolves! Following that up by going 3rd overall in the VHLE draft to the Stockholm Vikings! What a week for Guntis as teams obviously think very highly of the 6'8" 250 pound hammering Dman. No doubt Gavilrovs work ethic and dedication to improving was noticed by VHL GM's as he had numerous teams interested in his services on draft day. In the end he went to Vancouver and is absolutely thrilled to be playing in Canada for a team that has a rich history and very bright future. Joining fellow draftsmates in Vancouver like world's best junior Logan Ninefingers and talents like Riley Martin, VV Carstein, DBIV and J Shmo will make this Vancouver team hard to beat in a few seasons. In Stockholm Guntis looks to be the main man on defense right now and will log a ton of minutes expecting to put up big numbers this season and help the Vikings to the cup!
