A quick look at a new prospect.

With a new season in the VHLM underway as of today we're going to look at one of the new players lacing up the skates in the league.
Annie Oaks  a right wing who will be playing for the Saskatoon Wild in her Freshman season in the VHLM so let's take a look at what she brings to the team and what some VHL teams might be looking at for the upcoming draft.
At 5'10 and 175 pounds she may not be the biggest player out there but has deceptive strength and won't allow herself to be pushed around out on the ice.
Offensive Vision: this is her strongest asset her ability to read the game in the offensive zone is elite, she can find open teammates and also has a knack for getting pucks to the net through screens and defenders alike.  If there is a play to be made you can bet she'll find it.
As mentioned before she uses her Offensive Vision to her advantage when it comes to her scoring ability, she can pick corners on the goalie and with her strong slapshot she can blast puck by the goaltender even if they think they got enough of it.
Passing: now her passing ability isn't the strongest per se, however again is helped out by her Offensive Vision allowing her to spot any and all open lanes the moment they appear. This makes her a quality playmaker in her own right.
Strength: Annie is deceptively strong she may not be the best body checker but her strength really comes through with her slapshot and helps hew win puck battles in the corners. Her low centre of gravity can help prevent her from being pushed off the puck as well.
Defense:  Although this not being the strongest part of her game being an offensive player, I wouldn't call this aspect of her game a weakness.  She has a decent poke check and defensive coverage she also shows a willingness to improve on this area of her game and shows great promise.

Now we'll quickly go over a couple of weaknesses in her game.
Skating: Annie's skating leaves a lot to be desired it is her weakest attribute when it comes to her offensive toolkit she could really improve if she could add a burst of speed to her game.
Puck Handling: Not as weak as her skating her puck handling could still stand to be improved upon to limit turnovers in the offensive end and help breakout up the ice from the defensive zone. This is another skill that a lot of scouts would like to see her improve upon.
And that is what we have so far on Annie Oaks.
