LVShark 37
**Wrote this a long time ago, but I forgot to post it** The Moscow Red Wolves are currently sitting with a record of 22-33-4 and have officially been eliminated from the VHLM Playoffs. Although their season did not go as planned, there have been some positives. One of which is the young Latvian offensive threat. Maris Ziedins, who is playing his first season of professional hockey. Ziedins has shown that he can elevate his game to the next level and after 62 games of the VHLM season, Maris Ziedins or "Z" as his teammates know him, has 109 points. Maris has scored 44 times and has added 65 assists over the season. "The kid has amazing offensive talent" said Moscow coach Yuri Karpov. "It's easy to get mesmerized when Ziedins skates. He constantly has his head up, he's looking for open teammates, he's got his eyes on the net. No matter where he is, he can score or set someone up to score." Many people think that Ziedins could've put even more points up on the board if he were on a team with other superstars such as Jody 3 Moons or Sachimo Zoidberg. "I just go out every shift, and I give everything I have. If I come back to the bench after being out there for a minute and I still have energy then I know I need to work harder. I pride myself on my work ethic, and part of that is working and giving 110% every time my skates touch the ice." When asked where the young Latvian superstar would like to be drafted he had this to say. "I'm not very picky. Something that is important to me is that I play for an organization that likes to win. Nobody plays to lose. You only have so many years in the league, and I don't want to spend part of my career on a team that is rebuilding or isn't going to compete. I want to win just as bad as the next guy. I'd say the top teams are probably the Quebec City Muete or New York Americans. They have amazing forwards, amazing defense, and it's all solidified by a goalie who can stop anything." Many people often criticized Ziedins defensive abilities. They would say that he's slow on the back check, doesn't play a physical game, and often times lacks heart. After reading what some of his critics had to say Maris wanted to comment. "I've known for a while that my game has holes in it. Part of becoming a professional is learning to fix the holes in your game. I've tried to start hitting more, and making sure to put my head down and skate hard on the back check. Do I still have room to grow? Absolutely, but I think I have grown a lot already with my time spent in Moscow. We have a great coaching staff, and they really work with us." Da Trifecta 1,899
Content: 3/3 Pretty good write up. Z doesn't need to put up a good amount of points to look good. All it takes is lots of practice hours. He could be a great depth player on any team.
