Season Review

Heading into the season, the self proclaimed "King", King Czar III was an unknown name, another inactive third round pick. He was an oversized, undrafted, underhyped draft pick standing 6'8 and 250 lbs. His skating wasn't great, his endurance was terrible, he missed every check he threw.

And then he got drafted by the Helsinki Titans, a team he has sworn to be loyal to until the day he is forced out of this league after 8 seasons. Czar was a long shot of a pick, but I guess that is what General Managers do after the first round anyway. After having a brief conversation with General Manager Jake Wylde of the Helsinki Titans, King Czar was signed to a $3,000,000 contract which was absurd for any third round pick straight out of the draft. A week later, rumors were floating around, about the "King" staying up in the VHL to play with the big boys. The rumor was infact true, and no one knew what General Manager Jake Wylde saw in this kid.

Then, they saw the first game he played, King Czar III had already made history by being the first third round pick to suit up for a VHL game in the season he was drafted in, he also broke an unofficial record that same night, when he scored his first goal on his first shot in his first game of the season. Not only that, but Czar put up a tremendous effort defensively and kept the opponents off the scoreboard. General Manager Jake Wylde had seen something in this kid that no one else had, and now he was reaping the rewards.

A few games later, veteran defenseman, Mr. Svodoba, announced he would be retiring at the season's end, which put a ton of effort on the "King" to perform at an elite level as the new #3 defenseman of the team in only his first season. It didn't go very well as the Titans were kicked out in the first round of the playoffs. Be it by coincidence or just bad timing, but when Svodoba was dealt away and Czar was put in the #3 spot, Helsinki began to lose many games and dropped from the best team in the league to the 3rd and final seed.

This upcoming season poses a new challenge for the "King" as he hopes to accomplish what he could not last season, and that's to successfully lead the Titans to greatness. It's been said Czar is known more for than just his play on the ice, but also the leadership skills he possesses in the locker room while still only being a rookie. This next season is to be an improved one for the young star.
