NickSunderbruch 392
Nicholas Sunderbruch Jr is an interesting prospect, sitting squarely around a point per game in the VHLM as a sophmore in the VHLM doesn't look very promising however. And at first glance one might brush Sunderbruch off as just another prospect who won't be able to compete in the big leagues, I'd urge you to be more hesitant before believing that. Sunderbruch is a defensive minded center, who passes the puck a lot, and takes slap shots from up by the blue line. Sunderbruch isn't the drive the net and score type of player, he likes to remain towards the top of the ice in case he has to stop a potential breakaway, and because of this his scoring is often not as stellar as one would hope. Sunderbruch might also be a defensive minded center, but that does not mean that he is purely defensive, making mistakes is a part of his game in the minors, and his -6 +/- is indicative of this point. While there seems to be downsides to Sunderbruchs games, the upsides are much more appealing when you take a closer look at it, Sunderbruchs more balanced build doesn't do as well as a pure scoring and skating build that one might see in the minors, players have a 200 TPA limit and can't afford to spread points around if they wish to be ultra effective scorers, so this type of build that focuses more on spreading out points is usually much weaker in earlier builds as the plethora of stats that get spread around tend to be much less than someone who has dumped all their TPA into Slapshots or Wristshots. While I see this as a problem in the VHLM where players have a cap of 200 TPA, the way the VHLE works is much more straight forward, you can have 400 total TPE by the time the season starts as a max, anymore and you'll be graduated to the VHL instead. So with a max of 400 TPA you'll be able to have a muchb more balanced build and not have to worry about where to jam the very few TPE that you have allotted. Sunderbruch isn't going to be an immediate superstar, that much is clear from a glance at his build, am I perhaps coping because I forgot how to really build a player in the 2 year hiatus I took from the league? Perhaps. But I know that as time goes on Sunderbruch should absolutely be a much more viable option on someones offense, and shouldn't have nearly as much trouble once the competition begins to spread out, and divulge from their topheavy builds into more solid and balanced ones. I have little doubt in Sunderbruchs ability and much faith in the players and coaches that surround him, I believe the transition from the VHLM to the VHLE should be fairly good for Sunderbruch where we can expect to see him make an immediate impact on the Cologne Express. Sunderbruch has some intangibles that many players truly wish they could have, a mediocre VHLM performance doesn't detract from that, nor does it add to it. The real test has yet to come, and that's when we'll truly see if this is a generational player or not. Anyways I think I hear my dad coming home from the bar, I need to grab my helmet and jockstrap. diacope 1,696
Honestly watching your build play out during the season a majority of this already crossed my mind, like I knew Sunderbruch from another life We have a similar approach and I also hope teammates and coaches around my build untilize it to the fullest potential, like that trusty screwdriver with all the attachments built in 🗃 NickSunderbruch 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/148985-how-will-sunderbruchs-game-transfer-to-the-vhle/#findComment-1029479 Share on other sites
