N0HBDY 1,132
I’m not quite sure what direction I want to attack this theme week at. The VHLM has had many different roles for me throughout my history apart of the VHL which is almost 4 years now. I’ve been a player (shocker ik), I’ve been an unsuccessful GM for an unsuccessful franchise until recently, and I’ve also been apart of the team that focuses on bringing in new players to support the league. So like I said I’ve worn many different hats. I will say a week before when I realized that theme week was approaching I started brainstorming myself about possible topics since I might pitch a few in for the commie team. My initial idea isn’t too far off from the VHLM, but it was about teammates. Write a piece about maybe something like your favorite teammates you’ve had before, what it means to be a teammate, stuff like that which I think wouldn’t be a very bad idea for a theme. Nevertheless I got cold feet when it came to reaching out to bek in his dms to provide my idea, but they did hit a good topic this time around. My VHLM career started out in Philly, one of the most successful franchises in the VHLM, with GM Dmaximus. The team was super fun, so was the locker room, and we eventually won a cup. Now my opinion on Philly has sort of started to diminish because they’re almost the equivalent to the Kansas City Chiefs to the NFL, the Boston Celtics to the NBA, and for the Europeans possibly reading this the Arsenal to the Premier league (whether that one sticks idk soccer sucks). These teams are successful (bar maybe Arsenal but stick with me) and over time you just hate to see them succeed. Now I’ve played for many different VHLM teams since then such as the now dead Minnesota Storm, which how can you take a hockey team out of the most hockey fitting market but leave other cities who probably don’t give a shit about having a team like Mexico City. Anyways I’ve played for many others but none as significant as my time in Philly. The next largest impact the VHLM has had on me was when I was given a GM opportunity with the Mississauga Hounds. That franchise has always been a piece of work, I had no part in its later success, but it was a great time for me to get into the GM world (especially with manual waivers) and contribute more to the league. I stuck with the hounds for a couple of seasons, not sure how many off the top of my head but just check my signature to find out, but I eventually moved on leaving pretty much no substantial mark on the franchise. Like I said, there’s many different directions I could attack this theme week at so I kind of did them all with just a general take, god bless the league that now rests in Spartan’s hands as well as his puppet but I’m glad I’m not there anymore. VHLM GM’s deserve more respect than any other GM’s because they do the real hard work of creating the players to sustain the higher league and I’m glad their pay reflects it. 548 words Spartan and LucyXpher 1 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/149096-the-vhlm/ Share on other sites
