Mid-Season Review: Joshua Schwarzer and the Chicago Phoenix

As the VHL trade deadline approaches, the Chicago Phoenix find themselves in a competitive battle in the North American Conference. With a record of 23-19-0 and sitting in fifth place, the Phoenix have shown both promise and inconsistency. The team's top line of Francesco Mancini, Spanish Moon Moth, and Joshua Schwarzer has been good with a combined 169 points in 42 games.

However, this hasn’t always translated into wins and the Phoenix have dropped multiple games to teams who are not in playoff contention. When every game is crucial, these “easy wins” might end up making the difference in the final push for the playoffs and as teams makes moves before the deadline.

Schwarzer’s  has performed well as a two-way forward thus far. He has stayed above a point per game and has a team leading +20 plus-minus rating as well as leads all Phoenix forwards with 22 shot blocks.

Hopefully Schwarzer and the Phoenix can keep it up and secure a playoff spot as they strive to realize their championship aspirations.
