Been a bit of a VHL slog recently because it’s been quite busy social wise with celebrating two birthdays and an anniversary in the space of a week and a half but I’ve been able to keep an eye on things for the most part. 

 

One thing I did do recently was step down from updater. Main reason for this is that I was never claiming the TPE and with it being a high-in-demand job, it'd be better to give it to somebody who'd benefit more from it. I'll still be helping the updating team though with stuff like AI detection, which was something I would like to think I played a part in helping the clampdown on in the earlier phases (where people would just Soulja Boy "Word for word, bar for bar" copy and pasting from ChatGPT) although just through the nature of the always evolving technology, it's only going to get more difficult to spot this stuff. 

 

The New York season has been interesting, I thought for sure we were going to be skipping the Wildcard but we fell in on a tie-breaker. Wildcard is going to its final game now, hopefully we can pull through but Vancouver are a very good team so it won't be easy.

 

Wayne Gretzky's first season is in the books and the results were about what I expected. Realistically, in a team where he was heavily out-TPE'd by his fellow Americans forwards, it was always going to be tough to get a high volume of chances. What was good though was the efficiency with which Wayne Gretzky handled those chances, finishing top of the league in shooting percentage. 

 

It was at this point that I accidentally closed my wordcounter tab that I'm writing on and nearly booted the monitor to the sun but luckily it's kept all of the information.

BOG feedback, it's going ok. I've got frustrations with the structure of the Most Improved Player Award that I'll likely make a topic to request it be changed, but on the positive side we had a really good thread when it came to discussions for our builder HOF discussions when we'd had very few in the past (I will take part of the credit for the suggestion that a dedicated thread for builder HOFs would generate more discussion than we'd had previously). 

 

When it came to recruiting time, It looks like we got unlucky with the YouTube algorithm as our YouTube ad only got 2.7K views (which appears to be our lowest since our 5th of 8 Thrash94 ads, that one was in Season 80 and had the same amount of views). At the same time though, it's maybe not too much of a surprise as their last ad for a phone management game also got less than 2K views. If we were able to go back to the S74-S83 days of Youtube ads every season to counter for that, those kind of ads might still yet suffice but maybe it's something that's financially not viable at this point.
