Vice 413
Aloha means hello...and goodbye. Hello Europe Career Task - Johnny Tsunami By Vice After coming to the VHLE from two back-to-back stellar performances, Johnny was riding the wave so to speak. A spectacular performance in the VHLM post-season, followed by an explosive showing at the Junior Showcase set Johnny up for a short-lived, but highly anticipated season with his VHLE sponsors, the Stockholm Vikings- going so far as to pick Johnny in the first round at the number 15 spot. "The fans are something else here, they love the game of Hockey here. It's like a way of life to them, and to be a player is like royalty!" he said of his newfound Swedish fans. However, even the tallest wave can have it's lowest troughs. It started with an initial focus on continuing his offensive dominance from the off-season. Drills would often consist of varying difficult shot angles, passes and quick reaction tests. This would present Johnny's first challenge on his way to the major leagues. He soon found out that he wasn't as elite in the VHLE, let alone on his own team. He was losing the puck to much superior defensemen and getting outclassed in pretty much every facet up and down the ice. This hit a major blow to his ego, especially coming down from the top of the leaderboard, to costing his team points on the regular. This trend unfortunately continued on as his first ever VHLE season progressed. Initially, it was thought that during the offseason there would be a complete retooling in how Johnny Tsunami was to be trained with a bigger focus on a more potent, scoring, front line center instead of a more even, two-way one. Unfortunately something seemed to have gone off with that plan and soon we found him doing the normal drills that he had been doing this entire time. Without this pivot, he would continue to find himself in the gutter of the VHLE stat pool. Around midway through the season, the error was picked up and Johnny was quickly put on a defense-focused training regimen. The Vikings were now fighting for playoff contention and it was clear that Tsunami would need to start performing like he did in the VHLM and offseason in order to help his team make it through to the finish line. "I had gotten so used to performing well, that I didn't really think about what would happen if I started performing poorly...", Tsunami was quipped coming off the ice from a rather important end of season game. The end of the season saw an increase in Tsunami's output. The time and experience of playing with athletes that were just flat out better than him had helped immensely, and he started to finally grow into the big shoes that he set for himself at the start of the season. Though it was too little, too late. The Vikings would end up coming up just short of the VHLE playoffs, where Tsunami would cap off what would hopefully be his worst season-long performance to date. "I'm more disappointed that I couldn't bring the fans of Stockholm a cup in the short time that I was here. I wanted to be able to do more with the time that I had here." All things going according to plan, Johnny will soon find himself still in Europe - however, this time he'll be in Davos playing in the VHL proper. "In Hawaii, we say Aloha. It means hello, but it also means goodbye! So Aloha Stockholm and Aloha Davos!" 580 Words Triller, mattyIceman, Alex and 1 other 2 1 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/149592-aloha-means-helloand-goodbye/ Share on other sites
