jacobcarson877 2,541
Welcome everyone to Season 95! --- Another season is about to get started, and a new VHLM Draft Class has begun! Excited to see what waivers come in this season, and I hope we can get more players built up and ready to take on the VHL! --- I want to start off by congratulating all of the draftees, now that all of the drafts are done, it’s the most crucial time for player retention! If you haven’t heard from any of your GMs yet, leave a comment in this thread and we’ll get you set up! Hopefully you’ve all made your way into your new locker rooms, and are excited to take on this new season! --- I also want to take a moment, like I will for the foreseeable future, to recognize some important milestones that our members are hitting! 100TPE Although I believe they started this week at 100TPE, I wanted to congratulate @Rick132 on crossing the 100TPE mark! Rick joined about a month and a half after me, all the way back in 2020, and is working on getting to their first VHL game sometime soon! Had a great start in Houston, and hope to see them build on that success in Mexico, and get ready to play for Bratislava soon! 200TPE We have a nice collection of players crossing the 200TPE mark, some of which may end up playing in the VHLE this season, but most will make up the stars of the VHLM! It’s time for them to pack on the TPE so they can get a headstart on the VHLE for next season! We start with Onyekachukwu Chidieber Oluwaseun, who is @TenIQ ‘s 3rd player and the first to cross not only 100TPE, but also 200TPE! They’ve written some excellent Media Spots recently, and should be on the map for a permanent management position sometime soon! Next comes Jacob Longstreet, someone who really impressed me in our time together poking around the Marlins locker room. So much so that I was thrilled to draft them to London. And while I never got to GM them there, they just had a prolific season in the VHLM, and are steadily working their way to being a nice piece in the VHL. They’ll be off to Cologne shortly, and can’t wait to see what @Dynamicmlb_42 can do! Onto Jerry Box, two-time Founder’s Cup champion! Barry’s first player was in the first draft I ran, and I remember them kicking some major butt in Halifax. This time it’s even more major butt in Saskatoon! Sam makes sure to draft them again a couple years later, and is hoping to get a nice player to add to Helsinki! But first it’s Vasteras, and we’ll see what @barryst can bring this season! Our first true first-gen on the list today we have LaClapbomb Hitstick IV, who I assumed would have had at least 3 previous players, but I was mistaken! Houston has really enjoyed having such a presence on their blueline, and will be sad to see them move towards DC via Vasteras, quite the trek! They’re very eloquent in their Press Conferences, so their team will at least get a monster on defense and a media darling! Congrats @Greasy Gary on the accomplishment! Not to be mistaken with our previous entry, we have Clapbomb Bardownski III who follows incredible backup goaltender Evan Bihler in @Eb14 ‘s agency! A very solid opening career not unlike my own first career, and I’m happy to see their progression has gone well with the conversion to a skater! Another player who had a monster season last time around, it will be exciting to see whether they can follow that up, while building up some TPE to get themselves to DC! Helsinki snaps up another player on this list in Bret Weier, who I have had the pleasure of having on the Rush in the JST this offseason, and who seems like they could be a real long-term presence in the league. One of our few podcasters in the league, @Quanack has followed a unique progression path, which is something I admire in a player! Nice to see them back from their first stint beginning in 2019! 400TPE Our only entry on this list this week is Dan jr, who is back after a great career with Daniel Clarke, primarily in Riga. @Danzo has filled a niche that the league is sorely lacking in, which is consistent lower TPE earners. They earn consistently, build well, and Riga will be glad to have such a reliable player back in the fold. Welcome back to the big leagues and excited to see what you can do this time! --- I want to introduce something else new that I want to try to do every week. I know sometimes it can be a hard thing for newer members to do, so I sat down recently and came up with 100 things that you could write about, do a graphic about, or I suppose if you got really into it, do a Podcast about! Thanks to everyone who read this far along, and feel free to share your creations here in this thread, and I’ll come check them out! There should be a media sharing channel in each of your team locker rooms as well, and I’m sure your teammates would love to check out your work! So for this week, the topic is: What is the coolest food your player has tried on their travels? What city has the best food that they’ve been to, and have they ever tried to recreate that experience? For Jillian Woods, nothing beats Rome. I know it’s a basic answer, but when you spend a whole season, there, it really just becomes obvious that the Italians do food the best. If you haven’t tried real, homemade pasta, with real Italian tomatoes and herbs, some Italian wine and cheese, and some Italian cured meats, you really haven’t tried food. So what’s your answer? I’d love to read about it, see it, or even hear about it this week! Happy forum content creation!
