Rashford Ready for New Season

David Rashford enjoyed some time off over the off season following a memorable championship run with the Moscow Menace. As he gears up for the season opener today, Rashford finds himself in a new position being one of the older players on the team. "It's definitely a change," said Rashford after the team's morning skate. "For so long I've had the underdog mentality of just trying to scrap for my place on the team as a youngster. Now, however, the expectations are a lot higher. The team is looking to me to be productive rather than it just being a bonus. There's a different type of pressure that comes with this mentality and I hope I can adjust well to it." Rashford is entering his fifth season with Moscow and is still very motivated to achieve success. "It's unbelievable that this will be year 5. Moscow took a chance on me after being an unsigned draftee and I honestly thought if I could play a season or two in the big leagues that I could consider my career a success. Their player development help has undoubtedly allowed me to have a productive career in the VHL which I couldn't be more thankful for. To now be in my fifth year and already won a championship is a dream come true. It's time to win a second Continental Cup and that starts today."
