Does the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy matter?

 

Yeah, Theme week!! It should be easy right since it is talking about something that I have talked about for the past few seasons as VSN write but nope!! It isn`t that easy since I can easily write about the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy race but I would be lying if I stated that I actually care about Bouchard and his chances when it has always been Maverick Goncalves to lose rather than win.  So yup that aspect is done already I guess.

 

I guess I could write about how Pierre Emile Bouchard was over looked for the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy back in Season 84 and should have easily won the award but that again wouldn`t be that fair of a assessment and you know what that would most likely also mean that PEB wouldn`t have ended up as one of the best defensive defensemen of all time if he wasn`t motivated for being first traded by New York to Vancouver in a move that surprised this manager and his player as we didn`t see that trade coming at all.

 

The winner of the Stolzschweiger Trophy that season was Augustus Kennedy (NYA); his former team mate in New York that heavily benefited from his (PEB) play before being dumped to Vancouver. Yes, It was a clear dumping as Bouchard was leading all players in Rookie scoring by a ton (33pts in 33GP before the trade), Shot blocked and should have been not only considered for Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy but also the Jake Wylde Trophy - Top Defensive Dman as well but also seen that handed to his former Defensive partner Sven Eightnine (NYA); who had less points, worse +/- and way less Shots blocked at the end of the season. (PEB finished with 233 in the Index but 244 if you actually add up his two totals between NYA & VAN).

 

Did PEB deserve to win awards in his rookie season? Yup, but so did the guys that actually won the awards but it does feel like Bouchard does get over-looked more then I would like to admit as this also became a trend through most of his career and now also seems to be theme in retirement as the HOF has not come a calling even though he still tops the career Shot Block totals, 11th all time in points and top 10 in most other stats ; yet continue to be over-looked.

 

So does the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy matter? Nope as I would rather have the motivation to have a strong career and win championships then a trophies.

Not to mention PMB is following the same path being over-looked last season in the VHLE for every single award so I guess this is why the term of being FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY comes from in the VHL!!
