LucyXpher 1,337
At the time of writing this, the Halifax 21st sit at a record of 10-8-0 with an even goal differential. Coming into this season, there was some chatter about the potential of this draft class for Halifax, but most commentors were not sold on the idea that this team could be remotely competitive this season as it featured too many first gen players with a lot of ground to make up in the earning department. To be clear, it's still far too early to make any bold predictions about how far the 21st can extend their current run of form. We're barely a quarter of the way into the season with plenty of sim hockey still to come-- but we can acknowledge that this is a solid start for a team that came into the season greener than Kermit the Frog. In the two and a half weeks since the VHLM dispersal draft, Halifax's 15 players have all remained active and updating every week, and have earned a combined total of 599 TPE! Leading the way for the team during this time is waiver acquisition Mikko Tuomala @flyersfan345 (76 TPE), followed closely by Chad Powers @Big_Dyl (69 TPE), Kazuma Satou @Spartan (68 TPE), and Pelayo Bolivar @SMYLS4 (67 TPE). And though there's a slight dropoff after this group, players like Steven Nichols @SlyDigi (45 TPE) and John Babydeer @Bobo (43 TPE) have also made significant gains in this short timeframe. Since the draft, no player on Halifax has earned less than 20 TPE. There has been commitment and improvement across the board and the results are starting to show in their games with the team winning 7 of their last 8. For the first week of S96, the Halifax 21st are proud to announce the first ever double recipients of the weekly SuperSailor honor. In the past, it's been given only to a single player each week who best exhibits all the qualities of a good teammate-- being active in the locker room, building themselves up through persistent earning, performing well in games, and sometimes even putting forward some creative or engaging forum content. Both Mikko Tuomala and Pelayo Bolivar have checked all these boxes so far for Halifax. Both players have been present in the locker room and engaged in team activities this past week, and both were among the top TPE earners in the league. They both also have been relatively productive in the team's games so far. Tuomala, who three weeks ago only had 54 TPE, is now up to 130 and has notched 8 points. Bolivar joined the team with 73 TPE and has increased his total up to 140 while collecting 9 points. Doubling their TPE totals has allowed them both to quickly become impact players in the VHLM and they'll only continue to get better from here. What really stands out especially, however, is their collaborative creative effort off the ice this past week. Being friends before they joined the 21st, @SMYLS4 and @flyersfan345 recorded a great podcast together about the VHLM and the progress of the Halifax 21st so far. This kind of initiative so early into their players' careers really bodes well for their future in the league, not only from an earning perspective, but also as contributors to the community of the VHL. Congratulations to Pelayo Bolivar and Mikko Tuomala, our SuperSailors for the first week of S96! Honorable Mentions: Chad Powers @Big_Dyl, who's impressive earning of 69 TPE hasn't quite translated into incredible goalie numbers yet, still managed a respectable 4-4 record so far and has been a constant presence around the team. Petr Novak @LastGoon007 also deserves some love since Simon clearly hates him. Having scored his first point of the season in the team's 18th game, Novak has been a great teammate thus far and will certainly be a big part of the Halifax blueline in the future. The points will come... eventually. ༻❁༺ Edited October 25 by LucyXpher flyersfan345, Scurvy, Big_Dyl and 4 others 2 2
