In an unpredictable season for the Los Angeles Stars, where they may fight for a wildcard spot, Roger Eagles has been a shining spot for the future of the team.

The young goaltender in his sophomore season is playing incredibly well especially for a team that is entering a re-build.

Halfway through the season for Roger, scheduled to play 64 games this season, he has played 33 games so far and is putting up quite significant improvements over his rookie season.

He currently sits at 14 wins (5 short of his personal best), a .922 save percentage which has been pretty steady so far (compared to .912 last season) and a current 2.85 GAA compared to a 3.37 last season.

Roger seems to be playing much better with a weaker team in front of him but it can also come down to the fact he now has more experience and continues to develop his skill.

"It has definitely been an interesting season and I think I am just trying to play to the best of my abilities and continue to get better for my team" Roger said "If we were in the European conference we would be a guaranteed playoff team at this point, so I don't think we have been playing bad. This team gives it their all every game and its encouraging to see especially with the way the off-season played out"

Roger is currently on his 2nd year of his 3 year entry contract and many have been speculating on what he will be doing once his entry level deal ends. These last 2 off-season a lot of prospects seemed to have runaway from Los Angeles so we asked him on his thoughts.

" It is still early to discuss but I will go on the record to state that I want to be here. I am not a player that runs away from adversary. This team drafted me to help them get back into the playoffs and that is what I will do if the team wants me to stay" Roger said " Other prospects ran away to go chase instant glory but to me, starting in a rebuild, working your way up and then winning it is way more enjoyable. The grass is also not always greener on the other side, some of those prospects were thriving here and when they left, they are now struggling on much more talented teams and not getting much ice time, so for me I want to stay"

Those comments are what every fan and the management team want to hear from their top end prospects. Roger has been building strong connections with the city and the fans and seems to want to help lead the team back to playoff contention. It also seems like Roger wants to become one of the all time goalie greats in LA in line with Art Vandelay and Doug Dimmadome.

"Those guys are legends here in Los Angeles and I hope when my time is done in this league that I am up there with those legends as one of the greatest to play for LA " Roger said "That is the goal and I will be working hard day in and day out to achieve those goals. I think LA had a rough go in the last couple of seasons but we are on the right track and the fans will get to see progress soon"
