Smarch 3,157
The Three Peat In honor of the upcoming VHL trade deadline, the league announced the annual theme week that accompanies the trade deadline. The theme this year is “VHL Lore”, as the league is quickly coming upon its 100th anniversary. In response to this theme, I thought a quick look at one of the most hated teams in VHL, the season eighty to eighty-two Vancouver Wolves, also known as the ‘Meta team”. As many already know, the Vancouver Wolves were the second VHL franchise to win three straight Continental Cups however, the Wolves used 600 TPE players to lead them to the three championships. Those players were using basically a cheat code of max scoring, max or close to max defense and little to no passing to put up absurd offensive numbers. The commissioner team had to finally step in to fix the issue, when Beketov announced on March 5, 2022, that the league would be switching to a hybrid-based attribute system that would change the way players would update their players, making it much harder to max out certain STHS attributes. We’ll take a quick look at each years’ team to see how much offense they put up each season. Season Eighty: The Wolves won the Victory Cup in season eighty, putting up 118 points, winning fifty-seven of their seventy-two games. The team blew the other fifteen teams out of the water with 355 goals for, which was sixty-one more goals than the second-place team. During the playoffs, the Wolves played in sixteen playoff games on their way to their first continental cup of the three-peat, putting up sixty-three goals, while winning twelve of their sixteen games. The Wolves put up even more goals for in season-eighty-one as the team put up 381 goals for. The one difference in season eight-one, was the offensive for many teams in the VHL seemed to be inflated, with six teams scoring more than 300 goals on the season. The Wolves had two players eclipse the sixty goals mark in season eighty-one, as Jerome Reinhart put up sixty-one and Henry Tucker put up sixty goals. In the playoffs, the Wolves played in eighteen games and put up an eye popping ninety-four goals in those playoffs. Jerome Reinhart continued his amazing season as he put up twenty-eight goals in the Wolves eighteen playoff games. The team that season put up fifty-three goals, which was tied with the Los Angeles Stars for the most wins in the league that season. The Wolves had their worst goals for performance in the last season of their three-peat, putting up 336 goals for, which was only eleven goals more than second place London in goals for. In the playoffs, the Wolves only played in fourteen playoff games, winning twelve of those fourteen games. The team managed to score fifty-nine goals that post-season , with Tyler Reinhart leading the way with ten goals, which is a far cry from the twenty-eight goals that Jerome Reinhart put up in the season eighty-one post-season.
