Once again the team that collected the most wins during regular season was not able to make it into the finals. Last year Moscow got kicked out almost right away in the playoffs, so what we saw during the ongoing playoffs has been an improvement as Moscow beat Malmo before facing Davos. To end the year like this is still a tough pill to swallow, especially when four of the five games against Davos were one-goal games, and two of the games also ended in overtime. Perhaps it is fair to speculate how well regular-season hockey prepares teams and players for these tight battles. But then again you can not hide behind the poor EU division too much as Davos also comes from the same division. For Moscow, the biggest problem was perhaps the special teams. Davos had a lethal powerplay and a solid penalty kill. Moscow had a PK that did not perform as well as you expected and the same can be said about the powerplay of Moscow, only 12% for powerplay in the playoffs is not good enough. In the playoffs the smallest of details make the biggest difference, Moscow learned that in the series against Davos.
