Off Season Blues....

Here I am much later into a week then I like to be without much of a idea of what I should actually write about for a quick media, I could talking about Vancouver making the finals but I am sort of waiting to see the outcome before I write anything but the first thing that keeps forcing it way into my head is how sad the off-season can be in the VHL.

 

 

You might be asking how can the VHL be sad during the off season? Is it due to sitting around with our thumbs up our butts for much longer than majority are comfortable with? Nope, While I assume that would be very uncomfortable; it is more due to the changing nature of the VHL during the off-season. GM stepping down and players being traded due to cap space considerations.

 

 

While I don`t communicate directly with the GM around the league as an AGM of the Vancouver Wolves, I have still gotten to know some of the GM of other teams so watching them make the tough choice to step away is never easy as most if not all GM & AGM are completely invested in making their teams better and trying to win a championship. So watching them decide to walk away always makes me a bit sad.

 

 

Players due to salary cap reason are always being traded away, I have a ton of respect for every player that plays in Vancouver and over the past few season I feel that we have built a fun and engaging locker room; majority of this is based on the personalities of the individuals of the team so when we are in a situation where we have to make changes; it sadness me knowing that we are never going to win the trade since we are always going to be trading away a player that is truly respected in our locker room and on our team. I think this season could be a tough off-season regardless of if we lift the cup or not as changes need to be made to the roster heading into next season. I just hope that we don`t trade away a player that I really like or at least they go on to have more success with another team.

 

 

I guess I can call this the off-seasons blues!!
