jack 498
Vogon Jeltz - Right Wing Position: Right Wing Shoots: RightNumber: 42Age: 18Height: 6'0"Weight: 200 lbsBorn: St John's, Newfoundland, Canada Early Years Jeltz was born in St. John's Newfoundland, to his parents Danton and Simone Jeltz. Vogon's parents moved from France before the birth of their son, their only child. Danton works as a cab driver, while Simone is the manager of the canteen at the local arena, where Vogon spent most of his time playing hockey. The first time a young Vogon Jeltz was noticed was at his first away tournament, Ottawa, Ontario's Bell Capital Cup. Playing for the St. John's Minor Peewee Panthers, Jeltz led his team with 20 points in 7 games played. Eventually his team fell to a crushing defeat in the finals against the Iqaluit Bears. Years later, Jeltz entered into the CHL at 16 years old, playing for the St. John's Sea Dogs, his home town team. Vogon followed in the footsteps of fan-favourite Mike Hoffman, who was previously known for his electric offense and clutch tendencies. In 60 games played, Jeltz notched 39 points, with 7 of his 22 goals being game-winners. Jeltz went on to dominate in his subsequent Sea Dog seasons, racking up a total of 217 points in 150 games. Moving to the present, Vogon is excited to experience the VHLM and eventually the VHL. Jeltz was claimed by the Yukon Rush. Pros:Finishing Touch: Vogon seems to always know where to me. Whether it's his timing coming down the slot to finish off a slick pass, or being ready for a one-timer, Jeltz can always be relied on to put the puck away. His right-handed shot has likened him to scorers such as Steven Stamkos.Special Teams: One thing that is easily noticeable is that when Jeltz has extra room on the ice, he benefits considerably. The extra space allows him to play more confidently with the puck, and when he does this, his whole team benefits. His talent with the extra room can be seen in the numbers. 15 powerplay goals, and 3 shorthanded goals in his 60 game sophomore season for the Sea Dogs.Passion: Vogon has the passion of a Frenchman and the fire of a Newfoundlander. He always finds the extra gear when the situation calls for it. He's known for his leadership on the bench and in the dressing room, and his on-the-ice authority is no different. His heart has helped him to two playoff appearances and one Memorial Cup while playing for St. John's. Cons:Discipline: With his passion and fire comes the smoke. Vogon gets heated on the ice, and will often be seen paying the price in the sin bin. His coaches have been known to call him out for his lazy penalties on the backcheck or in the offensive zone. Vogon will have to adjust to the much less forgiving VHLM.Showboating: With Jeltz's great skill comes a great amount of cockiness. His celebrations are often over-the-top and leave even his teammates looking on in embarrassment. The overconfidence also shows in his gameplay occasionally. He often tries move that some wouldn't even attempt in practice, and will sometimes pay the price for it. Sometimes in turnovers, sometimes hip-checks, or even a chop to the hands.Defense: No matter how great of a goal scorer you are, you must still play at both ends of the ice. Vogon does not lack effort, but it's often in vain. His situational awareness for preventing goals is far less developed than in the offensive zone. This is likely due to his dominance in his minor hockey days, where he usually played in the opponent's end. Vogon has, however, improved considerably since his first season with the Sea Dogs. Future Potential: Vogon will undoubtedly make an impact in the VHLM, and the VHL to come. His offensive talents far outweigh his flaws, and his passion for the game will help him develop for years to come.
