Advantage 2,932
NIGHTHAWK FOR LIFE - VIKTOR JENSEN CAREER REFLECTION VIKTOR JENSEN - SEASON 89 - CENTER Games Played: 622 Goals: 251 Assists: 447 Points: 698 +/-: +210 GW: 43 Viktor Jensen has been in the league for nine seasons now and he truly does fit the moniker of ‘Nighthawk for Life’. The Norweigan center has been a member of the team since Season 89 and a part of their leadership core for quite some time. He is likely to hit the thirty goal mark for the sixth consecutive season and also likely the eighty-five point mark for a sixth consecutive season as well. For Jensen, when we asked him about his career and what he hopes to be remembered for, this is what he had to say: “Honestly, I just hope that I am remembered as someone that gave his all for the team that showed their faith in him back in Season 89. Back then I had been debating going to the VHLE, but I was encouraged to jump up right away and play nine seasons, and I am really glad I did. That first year prepared me a lot for what was to come and really assembled the work ethic that I would rely on for the rest of my career. So yeah, loyalty…someone who loved the Malmo Nighthawks…that’s truly what I want the fans to remember me for. I love this city and they have my loyalty for life.” Jensen’s career, despite definitely hitting the 700 mark before the season ends, has been pretty quiet overall. He’s been a consistently great center but never someone that stood out enough to break out into superstardom. And he really hasn’t had the playoff success he probably hoped for. With just 31 career playoff games, Jensen has 12 goals and 30 points. With that being said, he still has one more chance to improve his playoff resume and he has been looking as good as ever. He is also coming off his best playoff campaign yet with 6 goals and 11 points in 8 games last year. Internationally, Jensen has definitely had no problem showing out though. In 58 career international games, Viktor has 31 goals and 32 assists for 63 points and has probably enjoyed those games as much as any of the others he has played. “Playing for my country will always be one of my proudest moments. Those games just feel extra special and while it was disappointing that I didn’t get another chance this past off-season, I am really really happy that I have been able to contribute as much as I have at that level.” So all in all, I have really loved the career Jensen has had. Has he won individual awards? No, unfortunately not. Has he had the playoff success I was hoping for? Not even close. With that being said, he has been as steady rock in the Nighthawks forward core and one that will be remembered, alongside other retiring Nighthawks lifers like Savaisk Tzesar and Ronald Johnson MacWallace III.
