Thunder 1,264
Now that the regular season has ended and the playoffs are beginning it’s time to present my predictions for the playoffs. I’m going to have to skip the North American conference altogether because I don’t want to jinx Vancouver and be the cause of the wolves, not receiving the continental cup this year. I will jump right into the European conference and feel free to use my predictions when you select the winners for the fantasy zone, but just remember that more likely than not my predictions are way off! Riga Reign vs Prague Phantoms This match up should be an easy decision for me, since I expected Riga to be the conference champion and having them end up in fourth, call me by surprise. Riga is stacked and have a really good chance of making it to the finals and even to the continental cup. With Red Panda in the goal I expect multiple shut outs during the playoffs. Moscow Menace vs HC Davos Dynamo I am pretty sure that the Moscow team is happy that they don’t have to worry about the victory cup curse this season and should be confident that they will dominate HC Davos in this round of the playoffs. Both teams have a good lineup, but Moscow’s players always seem to know how to compete and playoff hockey mode. And with HC Davos coming off a good season it looks like they should put up a good fight. In the end, I am going to go with Moscow and predict that Moscow takes it in six games. Malmo Nighthawks vs Riga Reign It does not matter how much I like the Malmo team, they do not stand a chance, having the curse on their backs and to make matters worse for Malmo, Riga is a solid team and will be coming off a recent victory over Prague. The only question would be is how many games the victory curse is going to toy with Malmo before giving the round to Riga. Riga Reign vs Moscow Menace The European Conference finals will go seven games before getting a winner because both Riga and Moscow have stacked lineups and both general managers have special wits about them to adjust as needed to make the games competitive. But once again, with the curse off Moscow this will be the time to see Moscow completely dominate the playoffs and although it will go seven games, game seven will be a blowout. Moscow will advance to the continental cup, representing the European Conference and will be a well-deserved foe for the Vancouver Wolves. Moscow vs Vancouver - for all the marbles This next part is going to be hard to write because I do not want to put a jinx on Vancouver so I am going to give all the credit for winning the Continental Cup to Moscow, in hopes that I am wrong and Moscow doesn’t really win the cup, and it goes to Vancouver. In reality, Moscow has a very good team and is likely going to destroy the Wolves, no matter what I write. Let me be the first to congratulate Moscow. Oh, that hurt!! 530 words Edited February 3 by Thunder Spartan, leandrofg and Gaikoku-hito 2 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/154568-predicting-moscow-to-win-it-all-ouch/ Share on other sites
Gaikoku-hito 2,224
You are allowed to be confident in Vancouver chances but just understand that anything can happen in the play-offs. While I too like our chances of making the Finals on cannot look past Toronto; who come in really hot, Calgary or even Seattle but looking at if the regular season means anything then it should be rather clear who wins each series. And yes, I have Moscow & Vancouver in the finals for my predictions as well and I think Moscow has enough to beat Vancouver; but so do other teams. Malmo is cursed but I think they get pass Riga but I could be wrong!! Good read overall besides the last part!! LOL!!
