LucyXpher 1,723 Posted Sunday at 07:38 AM Share Posted Sunday at 07:38 AM (edited) In 64 regular season games for the Malmo Nighthawks in S97, Jørgen Løvstrøm posted a 50-12-2 record with an impeccable .934 SV%, 1.99 GAA, and 9 shutouts to lead all VHL goaltenders in each category. His contribution did not stop there, however, as @Pifferfish was a huge part of the Malmo locker room this season and an invaluable asset to the team in all respects-- keeping positive vibes around the team, helping teammates with builds, encouraging prospects, and weighing in on potential trades and roster management. To merely call him the team's MVP this season would probably be underselling his value as a player and as a person. A real heart and soul member of this Nighthawks team, loaded with veteran talent and leadership, there's no telling where Malmo would be without him. Congratulations on a fantastic regular season-- no matter what happens in the playoffs-- and thank you for your enthusiasm and contribution to the team. As a new VHL GM, you made my life so much easier and were a big part of making the transition a smooth and easy one! Løvstrøm backstopped the Nighthawks to a team record fewest goals against in a single season with only 146 goals allowed, smashing the previous team record of 169 goals against in S92 when Malmo also won the Victory Cup. His stalwart play between the pipes also helped Malmo to a franchise best 57-13-2 record with 116 points, beating out the previous win record of 53 and points record of 110. Regardless of what happens in game 7 of this first round clash against Riga, Løvstrøm has most definitely etched his name in the Nighthawks record books. P.S. Simon, I know deep down you're a Malmo fan. Please let us take a win in this game 7 against Riga and put at least one of these "curses" to rest.
