Preparing for the VHLM Draft - Titus Cunningham

Recommended Posts

Titus Cunningham's run with the Miami Marauders is over. His time in the city was short-lived, as he signed a free-agent contract near the end of the season. While Cunningham wasn't thrilled at Miami's quick elimination, he stated in a recent post on X that he was thankful for the time he was given to play as it "prepared me for what's the come, a bright future in the VHL." Of course, this post on X comes as the VHLM draft looms over the horizon, creating waves of anxiety, excitement, and maybe a little bit of fear in the young Cunningham and players like him. This draft will be the first time he'll see himself ranked among his fellow players, and he's not too sure if he's made a big enough impact to increase his odds of going earlier in the draft. Of course, one shouldn't be disappointed at being projected to go 4th overall, but Cunningham's a hard worker and strives for excellence.

Upon our analysis, we wish to offer Cunningham a bit of assurance as he looks ahead to this draft. Of the thirteen defensemen in this draft, he's ranked number 2, trailing behind his previous Miami Marauder teammate, Tina Hughes @tinafrombobsburgers. Not only should this boost Cunningham's confidence, but he ought to keep in mind that he is projected to go higher than any other player around his age and experience level. While Cunningham didn't stun the scouts in his first few games in the VHLM, his work ethic and history have certainly piqued their interest, and we've been hearing rumors that teams such as Miami and Philadelphia have shown special interest in the young defenseman.

Despite knowing all of this, Cunningham is working harder than ever before to prepare himself for this first draft. Shortly after the season ended for Miami, Cunningham made his way back to the hollers of West Virginia after securing special access to West Virginia University's hockey rink. The young man has become somewhat of a local legend, and the college was quick to grant their permission. We've been told that the only stipulation placed on Cunningham is that he would help other local hockey enthusiasts train in the off-season. At first, he pushed back, arguing that he was no better than any of them, but he was easily persuaded. Now, Cunningham can get on the ice whenever he wants, and he almost always has other players around him. While he works with them, his own game is being polished. Some VHLM scouts have not only noticed this but have also noticed some of the incredible talent of the WVU men's hockey team. It seems that Cunningham is not only fortunate in this endeavor, but so is the college, the men, and the scouts.

After we heard reports of this, we approached Cunningham to ask him one question, "What do the coaches and GMs of the VHLM need to know about you as we head into the draft?"

"I'm not a complex man. I've worked hard my entire life, earning everything that I have, and my work is just beginning. Management in the VHLM needs to understand one thing about me, I don't stop until I have perfected the task at hand. Right now, the task at hand is becoming the greatest hockey player of all time. That means my attention, my focus, will be on that. But, don't worry, you can't be a great hockey player without a great team around you. I intend to work as hard as possible to strengthen my team, and will achieve victory however I can."
