Greg_Di 1,042
During his heavy off-season training in order to prepare for the upcoming season, Roger Eagles, tweaked his back and is expected to be off the ice for the next 2-3 weeks. It is not known if he will be ready in time for the new season but Roger and the team doctors are hopefully for the best. "I guess I just overworked myself in that last session, I made an awkward save and felt pain in my book. Doctors say I tweaked something back there and I should be out 2-3 weeks" Roger said " It's not ideal as I would prefer to be back on the ice training. I think I should be ready for the start and if not we have a capable backup goalie in Ricky who could definitely take the wheel and give us a good start to the season" It will not be ideal for Los Angeles to lose Eagles long term as the team is expected to battle for a potential wildcard spot this season and in order to Los Angeles to do that they will need Eagles at his best. This is Eagles first injury as he enters his fourth season and many fans are hoping this isn't what the future will hold for the netminder. "I think it was just a fluke, I am not one that gets a lot of injuries and thankfully it happened in the off-season. I don't think there is any long term worry about this injury and I should be able to recover 100%" Roger said "I don't see this affecting my game and I didn't put in all this work over the last few seasons to get derailed by an injury. I will be back better then before and I am hoping that we finally get to see some playoff hockey here in Los Angeles. The fans are craving it and us as players are also craving that return to playoff hockey" The Stars are expected to battle for the final wild card spot in the North American division but will need all their players to be at their best throughout the season. Any early slip ups or long losing streaks can derail that plan for the Stars but it looks like Roger and the team are on the same page for the teams goals this season. With Roger entering his 4th out of a maximum of 9 seasons, it will be his time to shine and start earning a resume for himself in the VHL. The highly touted prospect from S95 has yet to reach his full potential and has only put up sub-par numbers for someone of his caliber. With 5 seasons left in his career, Roger has a lot of ground to make up if he wants to catch up to the most successful Eagles, which was also a goalie. Greg Eagles won 5 individual awards in his career and 2 continental cups. None of the Eagles have come close to Greg yet in the individual awards status and Roger was touted as potentially the one to beat him. As of now he is still quite a bit off and time is running out.
