AJW 2,340 Posted yesterday at 01:03 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:03 AM While the Los Angeles Stars enter S98 as a team just shy of the North American Wildcard race through 20+ games played, the team's future stars have been shining bright and are putting up extremely good numbers as first season players. To start, goaltender Ricky LaFleur @DarkSpyro has been given the green light throughout the start of his VHL career as many would say is more than expected. Through Los Angeles' 24 games played, LaFleur has started for 11 and has played in 12 total, almost equaling LA's franchise goaltender Roger Eagles. Ricky has put up some good numbers in his first season so far with 5 wins plus a 0.918 SV%. The team is very happy to see both goaltenders getting playing time, but the obviously fact is that once playoffs get closer, Eagles will be the face the team will rely on. Either way, the more smoke breaks Ricky gets on the bench will be better for his player development. For most of the games that Ricky starts on the bench, he will time himself to see how many joints he can smoke before the game is completed. Word around is that 12 is the current record through 24 games played (they're only half gram joints not full 1 gram). The team is hoping a full 20 joints smoked on the bench can be accomplished before his rookie season has completed. Defensive rookie 11th overall S97 draft pick Mikko Tuomala @flyersfan345, and 6th overall S97 draft pick Bubbles LaFleur have been meeting expectations on the blue line. Both 1st overall VHLM draft picks (LaFleur in S96, and Tuomala in S97) are hoped on to be Los Angeles' franchise defenders down the road. Tuomala has been earning TPE left and right to now sit 5th in the S97 draft class according to TPE. Tuomala has 7 goals and 21 points so far in S98, but is more relied on for his shot blocking ability, leading the team with 56 while also being 7th overall throughout the league in that category. LaFleur has been less of a shot blocker so far and instead has totaled 9 goals as well as 29 points this season. The duo both average 31+ minutes a game while paired on the 1st and 3rd line, as well as most special teams, which can contribute to their applauded start to the season. Both defenders currently sit in the top 5 for points by rookies, and one can only imagine if the duo can catch the dominant centreman Pelayo Bolivar @SMYLS4 of the London United, who is currently leading the league charge with 33 points. Bolivar is a young talent who just graduated from the VHLM with a S97 Ethan Osborne Trophy (VHLM Points Leader), as well as a Alexander Chershenko Trophy (VHLM Goals Leader)... so this will be a fun dual for all three of these rookies this season. flyersfan345 and DarkSpyro 1 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/155705-la-rookies-starting-hot/ Share on other sites
