Florida Man 660
The playoffs have been awesome so far. New York is up 3-1 on Toronto. Riga is up 3-1 on Helsinki. Seattle and Calgary are tied 2-2, and Moscow made quick work of Davos with a sweep. A game seven would be cool. Anyways, onto Axle Gunner. Scotty Campbell is the greatest player in the history of the VHL. He holds a number of records that were set before I even finished elementary school. It is incredible how much history this league has, and I am grateful to have found it. I have met some great people here, and thoroughly enjoy the content that people put out each week. Having said that, I would like to highlight a couple VHL records that were/will be broken this week… If you have been paying any attention the last eight seasons, you know who Axle Gunner is. Arguably the best player of the Hybrid Era, and now the principal leader in playoff points. Passing Campbell’s record of 129, a record that had been in place for about seventeen years (feel free to fact check me on that). With 61 goals and 135 points, Gunner is only one goal away from ownership of both the goals and points records. On top of that, among players with 600 or more points during the regular season, Gunner is first in points per game during the Hybrid Era, helping him collect a total of 777 (is this a sign?). As a Bears lifer, I was definitely skeptical about the trade to Riga, but it has worked out great for both teams. I have had the pleasure of spending the last couple seasons with @Steve in the Riga locker room. Even with all of the individual success, he wants to win and see everyone else thrive just as much as his own player. I am also a huge fan of Steve’s graphics- I suggest for all of you to go check them out. With only a couple more weeks until the season finishes and we can officially call it a career for the S90 class, I hope to see Gunner add to the totals en route to a Riga championship. Maybe even a Riga vs Seattle repeat? That would be fun!
