Game Recap

Game 45

Halifax 21st 1 Houston Bulls 0

First period: Welcome to the Founders Cup Finals, the first period did not net any goals, but boy oh boy did the tempers start to flair, with a combined 9 penalties in the first period, even a game misconduct by Alex Bridges. These teams came to play and they played hard.

2nd period: it seemed both teams got their frustrations out and started to play hockey, with the Halifax 21st striking the first and only goal of the game. Micheal Lee Jr got their first of the playoffs and scored the game winning goal. There was one roughing penalty but other than that some solid hockey

3rd period: Honestly, this game was a goaltending masterpiece, both goalies game to play with Powers saving all 29 shots faced and Lorequavius saving 34/35. This was a back and forth period but no team would reach the scoresheets resulting in a Halifax win!

Three stars of the game

1 - Chad Powers
2 - Bartholomew Lorequavius
3 - Michael Lee Jr

Game 4 of this series comes off some amazing goaltending by both sides as Halifax edged out a 1-0 Shutout on the back of 29 saves by Powers, Houston faced 35 shots and let a lone goal through, as it was the first time they were held scoreless this post season and they have promised to respond in pre-game and post-game comments so lets check out the action as the Game 4 of the Founder Cup gets underway!

Igor Sokolov(4) gets the scoring underway at 11:28 of the first, with assists from Wolfgang Muhlenkamp(4) and Wade Landry(3) Halifax strikes first at home and the home crowd is in a frenzy.
Some sloppy stick work from Family Mart nets him a double minor for a high sticking and Houston gets to work on the power play, Dog Jagr(7a) fires a shot that carroms around the boards back to Hunter S(7a) who snaps it toward the net and Robin Sierra gets his 2nd of the playoffs and ties the game @ 16:01.

The second period is pretty uneventful until near the 15m mark when Wolfgang Muhlenkamp gets called for a hold putting the Houston Bulls dangerous power play unit back on the attack.
Alex Bridges(6a) feeds Cardinal Copia(5a) who takes a few wacks from a bad angle on to the side of the net and ships the puck out front it lands on Feka Ohi Kau stick for a one timer, and he buries it from the point. Silencing the crowd as Houston takes their first lead since game 1 of the Series.

Neither team can generate much offense in the 3rd and the horn blows and the series is now tied going back to Houston for Game 5.

2 - Igor Sokolov (HFX) - 1G +1 4 Shots 1 hit
