In the news this morning, the VHL community was shell-shocked to discover that Phil Knight has found his next young phenom.

Knight, who became famous via his first two clients, Gerrard and Rafter, is currently working with Villeneuve.

Villeneuve has failed to live up to the standards of Knight's first two clients however, that is asking a lot, considering both are Hall of Famers and one is arguably in the top 5 centers of all-time.

So what does this mean for Villeneuve? Will he need to find new representation? If this is the case, he'll probably retire:

"Knight and I have not really had any concrete discussions about this," Villeneuve told VHL reporter Mike Hunt this morning. "If he does sign that youngster, I will probably lay down my stick for good. I am lost without my agent and every player in the VHL needs one. I feel like every game is a fight and I am not sure how much of it I have left in me. Other things are starting to take priority in my life. So yes, I would say my future is dubious."

What does this mean for Riga? Probably nothing much. Even if Knight does sign this new mysterious youngster, they will still have the depth defender for the rest of the season. Even Riga's future is uncertain as of next year but a rebuild is imminent.
