This week, the Riga Reign made a commitment to E'Twaun Delicious over Hans Wingate as General Manager Flyersfan1493 chose to bring in goalie prospect Bernie Gow as the team's GM designated prospect. Riga far outpaces the league in the race for worst record, with their 19 points being nearly half the total of Calgary, the second worst team in the VHL, but there is still certainly no guarantee that they get the top selection. Scarier still is that there are teams that could end up selecting ahead of Riga that are similarly set at the goaltender position. Those teams are:

Stockholm - The Stockholm Vikings are in a very interesting position. Sitting in third in the European Conference with 46 points, the team sits just outside of lottery range. Conference rival Davos is right on their heels with 43 points, however, but Stockholm is set either way given they have Davos' first as well. Cologne only has 51 points in second, so it's entirely possible that both Stockholm and Davos make the playoffs, but it's more likely that the two rebuilding franchises duke it out while Stockholm reaps the rewards no matter what happens.

Seattle - The Bears are currently tied with the Toronto Legion for the third and final playoff spot in the North American Conference, with 50 points. The team already has a franchise goaltender in Niklaus Mikaelson, so Delicious could be in play here although the team has more of a need at defenseman.

Toronto - The Legion have themselves a dynamic offensive core led by Sachimo Zoidberg and Tyler Cote, but this team could use another player that's going to earn TPE at a very high rate to put points on the board. Season 41 first rounder Fedir Okranitz has been solid earning TPE as a netminder so far, so the team has the luxury of going best player available should their pick come in the lottery.

Now, just because these teams can potentially select ahead of Riga doesn't mean E'Twaun Delicious will be the player they choose to select. There are prospects, some of whom are dynamite first gens, that could be picked ahead of the French winger. They are:

Pablo Escabar - There are quite a few rebuilding teams that have major needs in their defensive core, and Escabar fits the bill. Not only does he have a high ceiling, but with the rate at which he earns TPE you'd think he was on his third player already. If nothing else, Escabar is a clear top 5 prospect.

Francis York Morgan - Not to be overshadowed by his VHLM teammate, Morgan is another massively talented first gen defenseman that should hear his number called by the time the first round js halfway done. Morgan's handler, Christmas, has made waves for his already-impressive commitment to the league.

Brinson Faux - Faux's handler, Jamie, followed in a long line of members that struggled to stay active with their first player or two before everything finally clicked (I know, I was one such member). In Jamie's case, the success came with current Reign forward Brennan McQueen, who topped 1,000 TPE in a great career. There are questions about how committed Jamie still is with Faux, but the center remains one of the top prospects in this upcoming draft.
