Guest
Michael Clardy tips his hat after the first pitch inside the Shuttledome, home if the NABA's Houston Tejanos HOUSTON, TX - Clardy has been making headlines as a top defender on his Bratislavia Watchmen. The resurgent skater is currently 3rd on his team in terms of points with some decent hit and shot blocking statistics, but hockey can't be everything this young man is thinking about. When the native Houstonian heard some sports news and was presented a special opportunity, he could not pass up a once in a lifetime event. The logo for the Houston Tejanos The Houston Tejanos have just been announced as one of the 8 teams to become an inaugural member of the North American Baseball Association (NABA), and the organization was looking for local celebrities to be a part of the unveiling ceremony for the new stadium in the southern part of Hosuton. Naturally, big names like Jim Parsons from The Big Bang Theory and Beyoncé were called upon, but the sports heroes called upon included a wide variety of people. Clardy's name was among some greats, including Andre Johnson of the Indianapolis Colts, James Harden and Dwight Howard of the Houston Rockets, and Earl Campbell of the defunct Houston Oilers. The Shuttledome looks great for the Tejanos' inaugural season Clardy was ready and wore his custom Wrangler jeans to the plate to throw out the first pitch before the actual game started. He railed in a fastball right to the catcher, and the game was on. Clardy was not the stalwart at shortstop that he is as a defenseman, but he was able to turn 1 double play during the celebrity game and hit a double as he went 1-3. Not a bad showing for a pro hockey player! He was able to help around as Team Tejanos riled and won over Team Houston 5-2, and afterwards, several Tejanos fans came up to the hockey player looking for autographs on Bratislavia and Calgary gear. What an odd sight for the casual baseball fan, to see so many hockey jerseys in a baseball dome! Either way, it showed that Clardy has become a hometown hero from overseas and that was proven at this fun charity event! Clardy celebrates one of his 4 goals of the season Coming back to the Watchmen after the quick vacation, Clardy went on to score 1 goal and 3 points en route to a 4-3 win over Ottawa, something to help get over the loss the game before. Clardy is looking solid headed into the meat of the season, and the Wranglers are really liking his resurgence and visibility. Hopefully the young defender can become a face of the Wranglers franchise after a successful sophomore season in Bratislavia. But for now, the #ClargaryWranglers defender must be contempt going to charity baseball events and scoring 3 points a night down in the VHLM.
