Tylar 219
Maxime Perron Despite being from an untraditional hockey country like France Maxime Perron made his way to North America a few years ago to play college hockey in the United States. After his experience in college hockey he has now made his way to VHLM with the Brampton Blades to follow his dreams and eventually play professional hockey in the VHL. He was drafted 17th overall by the Brampton Blades in the S43 VHLM Dispersal Draft making him eligible to be drafted in the S44 VHL Entry Draft. Perron is a smart kid who attended Harvard University after leaving France to pursue an education and hockey. He is one of the best prospects to ever come out of France and come over to North America to play hockey. Maxime Perron posing for his Brampton Blades picture The Frenchman is a highly skilled sniper who has an elite shot and hockey sense. As of day 110 on the VHL schedule he has recorded 34 goals and 33 assists for 67 points in 62 games which leaves him just over a point per game. Perron’s shot has been his best asset thus far into his VHLM career and scouts see him as an excellent sniper in the VHL. His shot also allows him to create opportunities in front for his line mates to get rebounds and deflections. Perron is an underrated prospect who has the potential to become a solid first line player and if he does not hit his potential he will be still be a solid role player in the VHL. Scouts say he is very similar to Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn in the NHL and will likely be picked within the top 8 picks in the upcoming S44 VHL Entry Draft. Although he has a lot of potential one thing that has scouts concerned is his skating ability. His skating is average which some would say keeps a prospect from being an elite prospect but Perron has been working to overcome these concerns and is getting better. Besides his on ice play Perron is an excellent human off the ice which will play in his favour with scouts. He is friends with fellow S44 Draftee Marcel Faux having spent him with him the last few summers. Perron and Faux playing some pick-up hockey in Toronto “He is an amazing guy to be around and he is a really close friend of mine. We spent a lot of time together during the summers the last couple of years and I can honestly say he is one of my best friends. He is ridiculously smart person and the team who gets him is getting an underrated player." ~Faux on Maxime Perron Off the ice Perron and Marcel Faux are best friends as they crossed paths in Toronto many times in the summers when Perron was attending Harvard. The two will face each other three more times in the regular season after Faux was recently traded. There is a chance the two could play each other in the play-offs if both Brampton and Bern make it to the VHLM final as both teams are tops in their respective conferences. Watch for these two prospects to battle it out as they are both will most likely be taken in the first round of the draft.
