Milestones

With the next season behind number 44, this also marks the last season for Travis Boychuk before retirement. With that being said, I figure I shall take a look at the goal, assist, and point milestones that Boychuk should hope to accomplish in his last season in the VHL.

So far in his career, centerman Travis Boychuk has found himself as one of the superstars of the league today, although on the second line for the Quebec City Meute in his days after playing on Calgary's top line for three seasons. Boychuk has played in 429 games so far in the VHL. You might think that number looks odd, as each season has 72 games, and you would be right. In his rookie campaign, Travis only played in 69 games due to a league error, or maybe he was sick. With three games missing from his Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy winning season, you could bet that his numbers would be even better as a rookie.

First off we will take a look at goals. Currently, he sits at 227 goals. Scouts might predict him to reach 250+ to close out his career, but as a player who scored an average of 37.8 goals per season, there very much is reason to believe he can get to at least 260. With his work ethic enabling him to not be so impacted by depreciation, it is not difficult to assume he will score at least 35 once again. Scoring 260 or more goals would put him past players on the all-time VHL leaders such as Robert Gow III, Alex McNeil, Connor Evans, and Zacky Vengeance. Definitely good company to be in on that list.

On to the assists category, Boychuk is standing pat at 298 of them. Being that close to 300, it is easy to predict him to fly past 300. In his six VHL seasons thus far, he has averaged at least 49.6 assists per season. If Travis Boychuk can manage to put up at least 52 assists, this would propel him up to 350, having him pass players such as Yuri Grigorenko, Anatoli Zhumbayev, Peyton Nydroj, and Willem Janssen. Those are some famous names in the VHL that many can remember, and Boychuk hopes to one day become a player much like them.

Finally I will look at points. Right now after six seasons, Travis has 525 points. The main goal would be to hit the 600 mark, and with his average of 87.5 points per season it looks very doable. To hit 600, Boychuk will need 75, and that is a mark that he has only failed to hit once in his career. Getting up to 600 would put him in company along with Naomi Young, Mitch Higgins, Brett Slobodzian, and Robin Gow. To be up to par with all of these talented players would be a dream come true for Travis Boychuk.

In his final season of VHL action, being able to push up to that level with these great names would be an amazing accomplishment. Coming into the VHL, Travis Boychuk was an unknown, and if he can climb up the ladder and reach the heights that some of these other players have, it would be a huge accomplishment for his player agency. The main number one might look at is zero, the number of Continental Cups that Boychuk has. He failed to reach the holy grail with the Calgary Wranglers, and also with the Quebec City Meute so far. If Boychuk can manage to win a cup in his final season, that would be the ultimate cap off to his career.

Grammar: 2/2 - Didn't spot anything other than that season, that at the end. But I don't think its necessarily wrong.
