FUTURE CONSIDERATIONS

Nezhmetdinov is a quick, elusive winger with good feet and good hands. He is light on his skates, and can use his agility to evade checks. In addition, his excellent puck handling skills give the ability to make something out of nothing. However, his size (or lack thereof) will put him at a disadvantage in more physical leagues, or even against more physical teams or players. He is a very offensive player, with much work to be done on the defensive—as well as physical—aspects of his game. (Pre-draft report, S43).

PLAYING STRENGTHS

PUCK-HANDLING

The foundation of Nezhmetdinov's game is his ability to control the puck. He is a highly skilled and imaginative player, capable of producing dazzling moments of individual brilliance. His ability to manipulate the puck has drawn tentative comparisons to players like Datsyuk and Jagr, though he still has a long way to go to being a complete player, and will never have Jagr's size. Nonetheless, he is a technically gifted player, and difficult to remove from the puck by any means other than force. Fans of the VHLM can expect him to make the highlight reels at least once or twice this season.

VISION

Whilst it is Nezhmetdinov's dekes and dangles that draw the most attention, his primary role on the ice is that of a creator. Possessed of a keen eye for the pass, he will look to bring a team-mate into play before shooting himself, often using his skill to draw defenders to him before picking out an open team-mate. Oftentimes these two facets of his game come together to produce unpredictable between-the-legs passes, or no-look passes, as typified by his first star performance in the S43 regular season game between Snezhnye Barsy and rivals MHC Bars: Nezhmetdinov set up one goal with a blind back-pass between his own legs, and in overtime he faked a near-side shot, only to slide a no-look pass to the back door for a game-winning tap-in.

SPEED

Nezhmetdinov's speed and agility allow him to use his puck-handling skills to sometimes devastating effect. He is very light on his skates, and can quickly change direction to evade a defender or fake out a goalie. This also makes him a dangerous player on breakaways, as once he has eluded a defender, he can be very difficult to catch.

PLAYING WEAKNESSES

~o~

SIZE

Nezhmetdinov's most glaring weakness is his lack of size, and he will need to build up his strength if he wants to be effective in the VHL. It will be interesting to see how he fares in the VHLM, but whether or not he can get away with his diminutive stature in the coming seasons should make little difference; in the long run, he will need to bulk up. He is a player who thrives with the puck on his stick, and if defenders cannot remove it by technical means, they will do so with force, which against Nezhmetdinov seems as though it would be a quite effective tactic.

DEFENSE

Nezhmetdinov is most comfortable moving forwards, but in hockey you need players who can skate both ways, and be effective at either end of the ice. His size is a contributor here again, as he simply doesn't have the strength to be an effective checker, and is easily out-muscled by larger forwards.

SCORING

For someone so gifted with the puck on his stick, Nezhmetdinov's scoring record is unimpressive. He is more of a creator than a goalscorer, but if he ever wants to be the complete package this is another area of his game that he needs to work on.

Overview: 2/2 - You did a great job on this. Like how you made it into a HFBoards type profile. Nice idea.

Pros & Cons: 3/3 - Fantastic. Exactly how it should be done.

Grammar: 2/2 - Didn't catch anything.

Presentation: 1/1 - Looks great! Might steal it for my next player in 7 seasons. ;)

Overall: 8/8
