Unfortunately for our winner of the last match-up Geno Esposito, he won just to move on to face the 1st overall selection of the Season 18 draft, Daisuke Kanou, Geno won by a margin of 7-3 and something tells me the tides may turn on him this round.

Season 18 Statistics:

Regular Season:
S18 (DAV) - 65 GP / 31 W / 26 L / 6 OTL / 1 SO / .907 SV% / 3.01 GAA
Playoffs:
S18 (DAV) - 0 GP / 0 W / 0 L / 0 OTL / 0 SO / .000 SV% / 0.00GAA

Daisuke Kanou went straight from the draft floor to the VHL as he bypassed the minors all together. The Dynamo had no reason to believe he was ready for the VHL and didn't worry that they might wreck his development as a young goaltender, He came in and had a winning season in Season 18. He went 31-26-6 with 1 shutout. His 3.01 GAA was not very pretty as it ranked 5th out of the 8 starters but his 0.907 save percentage while pretty decent still also ranked 5th.

Season 19 Statistics:

Regular Season:
S19 (DAV) - 64 GP / 41 W / 11 L / 7 OTL / 1 SO / .916 SV% / 2.34 GAA
Playoffs:
S19 (DAV) - 10 GP / 4 W / 6 L / 0 OTL / 0 SO / .927 SV% / 2.51 GAA

Kanou's 2nd season this time around was quite the turnaround for him and the team. He finished with a 41-11-7 record with 1 shutout. He also improved his GAA 0.67 to 2.34 and his save percentage .009 to 0.917. Both of these stats were good enough for 2nd out of all goalies. The team also improved from the outside looking in to 1st place in the European Conference, 4 points up on the Riga Reign. They would end up facing the Reign and Kanou stood tall as they disposed of the Reign in just 5 games. In the finals though, they would face the Calgary Wranglers who had an even hotter goalie in Zach Voss. The Dynamo were swept in 4 games. Kanou had a record of 4-6-0 with a save percentage of 0.927 and a GAA of 2.51. Again both those stats were 2nd in the playoffs, to you guessed it, Zach Voss.

Season 20 Statistics:

Regular Season:
S20 (DAV) - 64 GP / 50 W / 10 L / 3 OTL / 10 SO / .922 SV% / 2.12 GAA
Playoffs:
S20 (DAV) - 14 GP / 8 W / 6 L / 0 OTL / 0 SO / .937 SV% / 1.91 GAA

Daisuke Kanou improved yet again in his 3rd season to a record of 50-10-3 with an incredible 10 shutouts, He also improved his save percentage to .922 and his GAA to a minuscule 2.12. All this was good enough to finish 1st in the European Conference and 2nd in the entire VHL for that matter, only behind Aiden Shaw They would go on to play the Riga Reign in the playoffs, who by the way finished just 3 points behind them in the standings. They went to battle in the Euro semi-finals and the Dynamo prevailed in 7 games. They then went on to face the Aiden Shaw led Legion. This series also went the distance with Kanou coming out on top. He led the playoffs in save percentage and GAA and put the team on his back for the Continental Cup victory.

Season 21 Statistics:

Regular Season:
S21 (DAV) - 65 GP / 39 W / 22 L / 4 OTL / 3 SO / .926 SV% / 2.61 GAA
Playoffs:
S21 (DAV) - 11 GP / 5 W / 4 L / 2 OTL / 1 SO / .914 SV% / 2.59 GAA

Coming into Season 21, expectations were reasonably high as the Dynamo were coming off a Continental Cup victory. It seemed though as the whole Dynamo team were feeling a bit of a cup hangover as they finished tied for 2nd int he European Conference with 86 points. They got in over the Helsinki Titans though due to the fact they had more regulation wins. Kanou had a very trying year along with the Dynamo as he regressed to a record of 39-22-4 with 3 shutouts. His save percentage rose to .926 but he GAA also rose to 2.61. In the playoffs though, Janou went to work as he usually does. He shut down the Reign in a hard fought 6 games series upset win. They went on to face their old pals from Toronto. Toronto however won easily in 5 games. Kanou had a record of 5-4-2 and a .914 save percentage.

Season 22 Statistics:

Regular Season:
S22 (DAV) - 65 GP / 43 W / 13 L / 8 OTL / 7 SO / .922 SV% / 2.17 GAA
Playoffs:
S22 (DAV) - 7 GP / 3 W / 3 L / 1 OTL / 1 SO / .906 SV% / 3.50 GAA

Davos came back to challenge for the top spot in Europe as the whole team was hungry for more after a devastating loss to the rivals from Toronto. The Dynamo finished tied for 1st in the European Conference but ended up being 2nd to the Helsinki Titans this time as the Titans had more regulation wins. Kanou rebounded nicely to finish with a record of 43-13-8 with 7 shutouts. His savpercentage fell a little bit to .922 but his GAA was also down to 2.17, 0.05 off his career best. The Titans and Dynamo had a classic series that went down to the wire. Home ice advantage proved why you want to finish 1st as they Titans knocked out the visiting Dynamo in game 7. Kanou went 3-3-1 with a 0.906 save percentage and 3.50 GAA. Kanou actually proved he was human in the playoffs for once.

Season 23 Statistics:

Regular Season:
S23 (DAV) - 64 GP / 48 W / 10 L / 6 OTL / 8 SO / .926 SV% / 1.89 GAA
Playoffs:
S23 (DAV) - 7 GP / 2 W / 3 L / 1 OTL / 1 SO / .905 SV% / 2.80 GAA

once again improved from the year before going 48-10-6 with 8 shutouts. He also had a career high .926 save percentage and a career best 1.89 GAA. This was good enough to lead the Dynamo to a 1st place European Conference finish and a Victory Cup win as the regular season champions. The playoffs were a different story though, as they bowed out in a 6 game series to the Helsinki Titans. Kanou's save percentage regressed to a playoff low .905. What is going on with Daisuke?

Season 24 Statistics:

Regular Season:
S24 (DAV) - 62 GP / 51 W / 10 L / 1 OTL / 11 SO / .928 SV% / 1.73 GAA
Playoffs:
S24 (DAV) - 11 GP / 8 W / 1 L / 2 OTL / 3 SO / .962 SV% / 0.98 GAA

Daisuke Kanou got a little bit extra rest as the team drafted Claudio Martucci and he serves as back up playing in 10 games. It was only an extra 2 game rest but it looked like it paid dividends as Kanou set career highs in every category. This also led all goalies in every category. He had a record of 51-10-1 with 11 shutouts. He had a 0.928 save percentage and a 1.73 GAA. This led to another 1st place in the European Conference and a date with Helsinki Titans. Kanou literally stood on his head and carried them past the Titans in 5 games before meeting up with another rival, this time they were from Canada in the form of the Toronto Legion. Kanou again stole the show as he led his team to the Continental Cup with a record of 8-1-2 with 3 shutouts. He had an insane .962 save percentage and out of this world 0.98 GAA. Through 11 games he let in less than 1 goal. Obviously this led to a Daisuke Kanou Trophy (Gordon Howe Trophy) as playoff MVP.

Season 25 Statistics:

Regular Season:
S25 (DAV) - 64 GP / 42 W / 16 L / 5 OTL / 7 SO / .913 SV% / 2.17 GAA
Playoffs:
S25 (DAV) - 11 GP / 8 W / 3 L / 0 OTL / 1 SO / .937 SV% / 1.73 GAA

In what would be his final season in the VHL, Daisuke Kanou led the Dynamo to another 1st place finish in the conference and another Victory Cup win. He had a record of 42-16-5 with a .913 save percentage and a 2.17 GAA. It was certainly a letdown compared to last season but, who can blame him for not matching those lofty heights he set in Season 24. They also didn't exactly cruise to the playoffs as the Iron Eagles were hot on their tail all season and only finished 1 point back of them for 1st. In an series many would expect to go the distance, the Dynamo managed to finish them off in 6. They would then go on to face the New York Americans who swept the Legion in the other semi-final, before proving no match to Daisuke Kanou and the Dynamo, falling in 5 games.

Career Statistics:

Regular Season:
Career - (DAV) - 513 GP / 345 W / 118 L / 40 OTL / 48 SO / .920 SV% / 2.25 GAA
Playoffs:
Career - (DAV) - 71 GP / 38 W / 26 L / 6 OTL / 7 SO / .927 SV% / 2.29 GAA

Here we have it fella's, Daisuke Kanou's illustrious career. He won about 67% of his regular season games and about 53% of his playoff games. He has a trophy named after him in the form of the Daiskue Kanou Trophy as Playoff MVP. He came in a VHL rookie and came out a VHL Legend.
