Mathieu Baptiste was a late addition to the VHLM this previous season and despite various efforts to help the Brampton Blades to a cup win, they ended up falling short. However, Baptiste still has a lot to be excited about, as he gets to finally experience the fun of a draft, as well as experience what it's like to be involved in a full season down in the minors. While a lot of people may not be overly excited about this, Baptiste has never experienced any kind of full seasons in a major league, so this for him a huge stepping stone in the right direction for his career. He had this to say about the upcoming experience.

"I think it's a dream come true. For any major hockey fan, you can't do much better than actually being involved in a draft, going to a team and hopefully bringing them all the way to a cup win. Overall, I think whatever team I go to will be a lot of fun, I just hope they're ready for an explosive Frenchman that is ready to take the VHLM by storm and really do some damage."

When it comes to expectations on Baptiste, a lot of eyes will be on him to see if he can really produce the way the hype is expecting him to. We should see a very offensively minded forward as he's young and still progressing to be more of a two-way player. However with the right coaching staff, right training staff and a positive mentality, there is no doubt in our minds he'll be two-way capable by his first eligible season in the major league. More on Baptiste to come in the following weeks.
