Toronto Drops Out of 45, Adds Prospects

Recommended Posts

The Toronto Legion are in the middle of what looks to be a long rebuild. The Legion had very few assets going into this offseason and even less at the beginning of their general manager's tenure. After trading off veteran defender Jack Kowalski, the Legion had picks 10 through 12 in the S45 VHL Entry Draft. Toronto traded those pieces to Seattle to secure two 1st round picks in the next season's draft. As of now, Toronto owns 5 of the 10 picks in next year's 1st round, which should help to bolster their rebuilding roster.

For now though, the Legion feature just three players, Max Mølholt, Joseph Roy III and David Blind. The team did add three prospects in the S45 VHL Entry Draft, but none of them will be with the pro team this season. Michael Burch was the team's highest selection, pick 22 overall, 2nd in the 3rd round. Burch is a beanpole, offensive defender who I believe shows some promise to be a good player in this league. I'm excited to bring him in. Filip Lundqvist was the team's 2nd selection, a goalie who is very early in his development. Lundqvist could be a nice goalie in the league but will need some more time in the VHLM. Hopefully getting him into a pro organization can help guide and develop him.

Toronto is looking up, but there are no doubts that this will be a longer rebuild than what might be considered ideal. Considering where they started, there is no question that GM Mike Mølholt has to be at least somewhat pleased that some progress has been made.
