RW - Pete Stockton
6'2", 212 lbs
Shoots: Left
Age: 18
Nationality: USA

Overview
Pete Stockton is a hard-charging power forward. He relies on using his size and strength to put the puck in the net, although he does have fairly decent touch with the puck. Stockton isn't a slouch on defense; he has a strong two-way game, and although he's more offensively-focused he will never be a liability in his own end.

The term 'puck hog' has been thrown about when referring to Stockton, and most of his assists come unintentionally, such as off rebounds. Still, he's considered a great teammate and has never had any major locker-room issues.

Strengths
Scoring (+++) Stockton has a knack for scoring goals, plain and simple. He usually scores close to the net, muscling his way past defenders to get into prime position, but he can pick a corner from farther out if the situation calls for it. While he can do other things fairly well, any team that picks Stockton is going to be doing so to take advantage of his scoring ability.

Defense (++) Stockton's two-way efforts are well-documented. Many scoring forwards rely on that ability alone to ensure their spots on a pro roster, but Stockton is sure to back it up with strong play in his own end. He doesn't necessarily excel defensively, as he can get beat by other great scoring forwards, but he certainly puts in the effort, and is above-average for his position at defense.

Puck Handling (+) While Stockton relies on force to score most of his goals, he can make some moves to keep the puck on his own stick and away from the defenders. His skating deficiencies negate this for the most part, but at times Stockton can dazzle the crowds (relatively speaking) with some nice moves to set himself up for a goal. More often than not, however, he's just going to be in the right place at the right time.

Weaknesses
Passing (---) To put it bluntly, Pete Stockton does not like to pass the puck. When it ends up on his stick, he knows what he wants to do with it, and usually that involves putting it in the net. If there's a wide-open opportunity staring him in the face, he's going to let his teammate finish the job, but if not he's going to do what he can to find a way himself.

Skating (--) Stockton's skating is not very fluid, and generally not nearly as good as his peers. His conditioning is excellent, which is good because he tends to waste a lot of motion and energy with exaggerated strides that do more to slow him down than speed him up. If he were a better skater, he'd be a much better player all around, but nobody's perfect.

Fighting (-) Stockton isn't going to instigate many fights. That's generally a good thing, but when you play the style of play that he does, it's going to ruffle some feathers and make somebody want to punch him a few times. If that does happen, he's not going to fare very well. Strength can only get you so far in a fight, and he doesn't have the necessary attitude to dominate when the gloves come off.

Outlook
Pete Stockton is a definite first-round talent in the VHL. Questions about his work ethic may dog him early on, but by the end of the season, if he sticks to his guns, he'll easily go in the first five picks of the VHL Entry Draft. From there, he'll just need to stick to his game plan and improve his weaknesses to become a top-tier talent in the league.
