Panik Ready to Compete With Royals

 

After joining the Brampton Blades late last season during their playoff series, Jon Panik is officially on a team after being drafted in the 4th round by the Bern Royals. Currently the Royals are the early favorite win the Founders Cup due to their depth and high end talent due to the fact that they had picks all over the board in a deep VHLM Draft. Panik will be playing with Jeff Hamilton and Ben Tumack, both who are projected to contribute heavily on the blueline for the Royals as well. With assistance on the back end and in the offensive zone, Panik should be looking at a nice individual season in Bern before his draft year. But Panik insists he isn't focused on his individual stats.

 

Obviously having a big stat line is nice, but when you're drafted to a team whose main goal is to win a championship I think it's more important to be focused on that goal instead. I just want to do what I can to start working towards a playoff berth and I think the individual and team success will just bloom from there. We have a really talented team and even though the season is just kicking off, we are all really getting along well. We want to work towards a championship, that's the end game in Bern this season.

 

Although only playing in one pre-season game so far, Panik contributed 3 points to a Bern win. Even though expecting a game like that frequently may be a little much to ask, Panik proved that he can contribute to a winning cause and only wants to expand his role with the Royals as the season goes on.
