Free keeps on working

Moscow Red Wolves defenseman World B. Free remains a bigger secret for most of the pro league scouts. He burst onto the hockey scene late during last year's regular season with a little bit of game coming with him, but failed to make a good impression during the course of his first games. With him being a first round pick this summer in the VHLM draft, there is a heavy burden placed on his shoulders but as we know, he didn't fail to deliver in one way or the other. Two weeks ago, news broke that he had victorious fight with Russian president Vladimir Putin to prevent him from removing the Red Wolves from the minor league entirely. The week thereafter, he had a rather comical interview that left many bystanders wondering whether he had drowned too much whiskey beforehand.

Still, he has shown some nice effort in these last two weeks which is uncommon for him. Scouts predict him to have a rather limited career. Fred's agent managed the not-so-storied career of long time Cologne Express defenseman Ron World Peace before putting up with the headcase that is World B. Free, and despite the longetivity of World Peace's career he was known for putting in a rather minimalistic effort each week. World B. Free improved on the same ratio last season, so Moscow's selection was met with criticism in the post draft phase. What has driven him to step up his effort over night is still in the blue, even though Free already put a hold on too much speculation: "I'm just feeling kind of free these weeks. Normally, even with the limited progress I get to make over the weeks I'm good with it just the way it is. Right now, I feel motivated to put in some more effort, to elevate my level of play a tad more than I usually do," Free said. "Will I keep it up? I wouldn't bet on it to be honest, but who knows. Maybe I'm just better off being a role player, which I also wouldn't have a problem with. Life is good right now."

Asked on his time right now, the young German was overly ecstatic. The situation for him on Moscow is quite comfortable, seeing how he plays on the first line and is under no pressure of the management. "This place is the perfect fit for my development as a player," World B. Free tweeted two days ago to his followers. "There's a bunch of players that form this team's core, and we recently added studs like Lucas Zhukenov, or Sandro Clegane. I really like the direction we're going at."
