New VHL prospect Tom Slaughter has officially joined the Season 37 draft class. The little known American forward was picked up immediately after signing on with the league by the Ottawa Lynx franchise, currently in first place in North America. Through his first two games, Slaughter registered a goal and an assist, while bring little defensively to the table thus far. Some assume Slaughter will be the clone of Phil Rafter, but others hold out hope the player will eventually develop into a more rounded player.

"He's raw to professional hockey, but I think we'll see Tom grow into a good player in the VHL some day. He has a steep learning curve ahead of him, but he has some quality teammates and a good opportunity to gain some valuable playoff experience this season and the next," player agent Sterling Labatte said.
