For this article, I'll be taking a look at the top contenders for the Christian Stolzschweiger Tropohy. Some people are tired of hearing about Zach Parechkin maybe, but fuck you. Just kidding, you're still cool to me.

Zach Parechkin

The player that most are predicting to win the Stolzschweiger Trophy is none other than Toronto Legion star forward, Zach Parechkin. This is the same player who was taken 1st overall in the S46 VHL Entry Draft, and the player who dominated throughout his final VHLM season with the Bern Royals. This season in his rookie campaign, Zach put up 36 goals and 45 assists, for 81 points in 72 games. On top of this, Parechkin also held down 10th overall as a left winger, only 10 points behind Calgary captain Marcus Hurley. He also had 303 hits, which was good for 5th overall in the whole VHL. Getting that kind of presence out on the ice in your first season will do nothing but good things for him. Along with those other stats, he also put up 2 hat tricks, which is impressive. The thing about all of this is, that he played alongside Max Molholt all season, and him and Molholt were relied upon heavily by the Legion, so that definitely affected his scoring in a positive way. Zach Parechkin is already a force to be reckoned with on the ice, and with that kind of name for yourself around the league already with his point production and physicality, the Legion have a good future.

World B. Free

Second place points-wise in the rookie race was Zach Parechkin's teammate, defenseman World B. Free. World was dominant as a defenseman in the VHL this season as Toronto's go-to guy for production all over the ice. He had 8 goals and 55 assists on the back end, which is stellar as a d-man for a rookie. Free had the most penalty minutes in the VHL with 202 minutes in the box. Being known as a tough guy like that this early in his career is a huge plus for him in making a name for himself. He also blocked the second most blocked shots in the league with 186. Along with those kind of numbers, he also has the sixth most hits in the VHL with 293. At 63 points, he was the 10th best defenseman in terms of production as well. World B. Free has shown to have a knack for his defensive capabilities and a strong work ethic towards the game of hockey. With such high numbers in points, blocked shots, and hits, he has shown an all-around ability in all aspects of defense. Although, just like Zach Parechkin, he was relied upon heavily and the Legion's #1 defender out on every shift.

Sam Teibert

Sam Teibert may not have been an early favourite for the Christian Stolzschweiger, but he made his way to the top three of the rookie rankings throughout the season, and landed third in the end. Sam played 60 games for the Stockholm Vikings this season, and put up 51 points in those games. Attached to those 51 points are 17 goals, and playing with those Vikings skaters definitely aided his play. Unlike Parechkin and Free, Teibert was not top 10 in any of the other statistical categories, but that's not to say he wasn't stellar. Teibert played a strong two-way game and contributed well in a lower role for Stockholm.

Arcturus Mengsk

As far as the Seattle Bears go, Arcturus Mengsk is a pivotal part of their future. This season in his first with the Bears, Mengsk put up 17 goals along with 48 overall points. He had the most blocked shots in the league with 207, and was even tied at 2nd for the most power play goals with 13. Along with that, he even had 3 fights compared to Zach Parechkin's 2, so you know he can rough it up if need be. Arcturus was a little lower in production than Toronto's World B. Free, but he more than doubled Free's goal total with his 17. It's hard to really compare the two too much though, as they both had the most blocked shots in the league with a high point production, while both being key factors on their respective blue lines.

Other notables:

Seattle's Jeff Hamilton

Seattle's Jace Hines
