Tagger 2,722
General Managers To Be Selected Tonight In just a few hours, the six members set to assume the position of General Manager for their respective countries will be announced. So far, there have been eleven applicants for the job, which is an improvement over last tournament which had eight applicants in total. Of those who have applied, there are four applicants who have already been a GM in previous World Cups on this board; Boubabi has been a GM at every World Cup on this site to this point, Eaglesfan managed Team Mercenaries in Season 37, iRockstar managed Team USA in Season 37 and Mr. Power managed Team Canada in Season 40. Which World Cup Team Is Best Represented In The VHL? Team Canada, Team Western Europe and Team World can all lay claims to being the top producers of VHL talent as they have each produced 18 players of the 78 that played in the 46th VHL Season that are also eligible for the World Cup. Lagging behind in fourth place is Team USA with 13 talents and Team Scandinavia are last with 11 VHL talents to their name. While USA's lack of talent production isn't surprising considering a VHL team from the USA has not made the Continental Cup final since the last World Cup tournament, you would have thought that Team Scandinavia would be full to the brim with new recruits after the respective success of the Helsinki Titans, but it turns out that's certainly not the case. Could Tyrone Williams Be The Lone Season 39 Player At The World Cup? While it isn't a common practice in the VHL for players to make their last appearances on the ice at the VHL World Cup, there is usually at least one player who will do so. In the Season 43 tournament, it was Mike Szatkowski Jr. who leaped at the opportunity to lead Team Canada after being on the bench behind Brick Wahl for nearly his entire international career. In Season 40, Karsten Olsen made one last effort to bring home a cup for Team Scandinavia, but ultimately he could only bring home a silver medal. This tournament, it looks like the only player with a realistic shot of playing his final hockey game at the World Cup is Team USA winger Tyrone Williams. If Williams were to be selected, it would be an interesting way for the Cologne Express wingers career to end. Critics believe that regression has hurt Williams' game a lot, but despite that he's got a better shot at Team USA than ever before after four forwards from the previous tournament's squad (Slaughter, Faraday, Wolf, Stokes) retired.
