DollarAndADream 3,356
Pablo Escabar Looking at the current career of defenseman Pablo Escabar, he is the only player out of the Season 43 VHL Entry Draft to have won three Continental Cups. This is actually quite a spectacular feat, considering that he has only been in the VHL for four seasons. Escabar entered the VHL right out of his draft year in Season 43, where he spent the season with the team that drafted him, the Seattle Bears. In his rookie season, he had 5 goals and 21 assists, giving him 26 points on the blue line for Seattle. He had 156 hits and 104 blocked shots, which is pretty decent for a rookie. In the playoffs, this is where he shined the brightest. In their 16 game run, he had 13 points, including 2 goals. This is that same season where the Seattle Bears upset all of their opponents and went on to win the Continental Cup, riding on the shoulders of goaltender Niklaus Mikaelson. Quite the feat, indeed. In that off-season, Pablo was traded to the Helsinki Titans, where he would have a wonderful season. In 72 games with Helsinki that season, Escabar 24 goals and added 62 assists, giving him 86 points. He had 330 hits and 271 blocked shots, which was easily a huge part of the work load for the Titans that season. Although, the Helsinki Titans were a bad team that season, so despite Escabar's offensive and defensive efforts, he was a -64 in the plus/minus column. The Titans missed the playoffs that season, as you might have guessed. -------------------------- -------------------------- In Season 45, it was Pablo Escabar's 3rd in the VHL and 2nd with the Helsinki Titans, and the Titans only got stronger. Pablo scored 56 points in 72 games, adding 10 goals. He also had 196 hits and 82 shots blocked, which was much less than he's had before, but Helsinki was a much more balanced team. In the S45 playoffs, Pablo stepped his game up just like he did in the playoffs with Seattle, and he brought forward 11 points in 12 games this time. He had 27 hits in those 12 games, and Helsinki went on to win the Continental Cup that season, giving Pablo Escabar his 2nd title. Quite an accomplishment for only 3 seasons in the VHL. Last season, being Season 46, Pablo Escabar remained with the Helsinki Titans. He had 13 goals and 46 assists, giving him 59 points, which is 3 more than the season prior. On top of that, he had 195 hits and 75 blocked shots, which are very similar numbers to what he had before as well. This time though in the post-season, Helsinki had an easier time. Pablo Escabar had 6 points in 10 games, with 27 hits again and the Titans went on to repeat as Continental Cup Champions. A very impressive feat to reach. Right now in the current season, Season 47, Pablo Escabar is having a great one. In 19 games so far, he has 16 points. In the hits column, he has 46 with 32 blocked shots. Those are some pretty good numbers for only being 19 games in. He's on pace to have a very good season overall and is continuing to be a fantastic depth defenseman in the league. evrydayimbyfuglien 600
Very nice write up about a very good career any young defenseman would love to have. Noticed one error in the 2nd paragraph, "Escabar 24 goals and added..." I'm assuming should be "Escabar tallied/scored/had 24 goals..." But overall a very nice write up, easy to read.
