Jala 922
Taken late in the first round of the VHLM Dispersal Draft, youngster Ted Doughty is heading to Switzerland to join the Bern Royals. While this would appear on the surface to be a simple story of a young player taking a step towards their dream of playing in the VHL, there's actually more than meets the eye. The twist is that Doughty is currently training with Sachimo Zoidberg, former GM of the Bern Royals. Zoidberg runs a skating clinic and is working with Doughty and VHLM rookie Frank Jalopski. Doughty had this to say about the pleasant coincidence. Quote Yeah, Sachimo told me that he used to be GM of the Royals and how he enjoyed the hell out of it, especially the championship he was able to bring them. I knew there was a chance that I'd get to play for the storied franchise, but there's still seven other teams out there. Obviously being drafted into the VHLM is a huge privilege and relief to me, but the chance to play for Bern made it that much better. Sachimo will actually be coming along with me while I head to Bern to help me get set up and have a friendly face who knows the area. Anyways, I gotta head to the airport, thanks for the word. A fresh start for a young player and a return to an old home for a former player. Hopefully nothing but the best for the future of both. sterling 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/28705-doughty-to-bern/ Share on other sites
