Pietro Maximoff - Biography

When a player enters the Victory Hockey League, all kinds of questions arise. Who is he? Where does he come from? What is his lifestory? In this installment we will look at the life of Pietro Maximoff, drafted fifth overall by  the Cologne Express in the Season 49 VHL Entry Draft. Pietro Django Maximoff, as his full name is, was born in Wundagore Mountain in Transia, Europe. An unofficial country which is based in Romania. In his younger years he was raised by his father and mother Django and Marya Maximoff. Pietro and his twin sister Wanda noticed they were special. They didn't go to school like normal kids do, but yet they had indescribable talents. The siblings didn't stay with their parents for long. The family was poor and their father had to steal food to feed the family. The gypsy camp where they lived was attacked by enraged villagers who didn't take it anymore. They were fed up by their food being stolen and they chased them away.

Pietro used his extreme speed to fled from the camp and he took his sister with him. After that the two youngsters were on their own and had to see how they could survive. At first they turned into beggers, using their youthly innocence to get money from bypassers. It worked to get enough food to survive, but it wasn't enough. When they started using their powers for their own gain they were quickly noticed by Max Eisenhardt, a man who had seen his parents die in Auschwitz who took them in. After being taken in, Pietro's incredible speed was used for heists and they quickly gained a lot of fortune under Eisenhardts charge. But this was not the life they wanted. Once again they fled, but this time they had enough money to lead a honest life and start living a life of their own.

Pietro decided it was time to discover what would make him happy, he decided to join a track and field team, as running was his life, and his speed was immeasurable high.  In fact, he was so fast that the times he ran on the sprints weren't even able to be tracked. The national agency of athletics didn't trust it and banned Pietro even before he ran his first tournament.

Would he have beaten Bolt? Probably!

He had to find something else, something he wasn't as good at so he would have a chance to play. When he heard about hockey and how you would have to move over ice, he became intrigued and he applied at Steaua Rangers, the biggest hockey team of Romania, asking for a try out. He started out with the juniors and even with this being the first time on the ice, he could move at great speeds on the ice, it was nowhere as fast as his running, but he felt he had a chance here to learn and become a great hockey player. After just a year of playing he was already moved up to the first team where he was the top goalscorer for two seasons straight. It was with this team that Pietro got to know American goaltender Julien Hernandez from Denver, Colorado. Maximoff befriended the goaltender and they started talking about different leagues in North America. Of course the NHL looked like the best option, but he realized that he wouldn't be noticed by their scouts in Romania. When looking for different options for 19 year old players they stumbled upon the VHL, and he decided to visit the all star game in Amsterdam. After seeing the game being played he knew it could be a league where he could learn and gain the exposure needed for making it to the NHL.

Pietro decided to take the step and he signed up for the VHLM as a waiver claim. His team, the Ottawa Lynx managed to reach the finals, where they lost to the Bratislava Watchmen. Since he was a waiver claim halfway the season, he re-entered the VHLM draft and ended up with Bratislava, the team that had originally beaten him last season. With this team they managed to get to the finals, this time to face the Ottawa Lynx, his old team. After dropping the first two games, Maximoff felt a bit down. He wouldn't want to lose two finals in a row and especially not against his old team. This is where they drew the line. After being down 2-0 Bratislava won four games in a row and Maximoff clinched the cup winning goal in game six. His first championship in the VHL! Even though it was a minor league victory, he now knew how it felt to held up the hardware. The experience is so much better as it was in Romania and even in a minor league the crowd went wild. He knew he had made the right decision and entered the draft, which brings us to where we are now. Joining the Cologne Express Maximoff is expected to make his debut in Germany the upcoming season. He has a long way to go before being a useful player, but already suiting up for Team World in the World Cup we feel like he will have a good chance to become a useful player for them. With Maximoff on their team the Express will start to fight to win their second cup in history, the first one since season 42.

It was an intersting road for Maximoff, after having a troublesome youth, it was his speed that got him through all the difficulties in life, finally bringing him to the league where he hopes to be discovered. After eight seasons in the VHL, Maximoff hopes to make the jump to the NHL. He will not stop until he reached his main goal, to gain immortality in the hockey world. And his sister you ask? She is right at his side, trying to help Pietro when times get rough for him, did they get the success in the VHLM by fair play, or did Pietro's sister use her secret abilities to manipulate the games? We are unsure and there is no proof, but with magic like this on his side, how can Pietro's career fail. Cologne might have gotten the steal of the draft if this turns out to be true.

Great read, man. Same issues as the rookie profile though. Glad to be on Team World with you. Let's win the world cup!

Yeah thanks, that kind of stuff is hard to avoid as a non natural speaker, so it just slips in.

Thanks for checking them so quickly, would be nice to have the points added before the season :)
