Trying to Wrangle a win

The Calgary Wranglers are last in the NA Conference, not that it's much surprise to anyone. A rebuilding team laden with inexperienced youngsters is likely to falter out of the gate, but the team's 2 wins are an alarming amount through 21 games played. Rookie defenseman Ted Doughty has only put up 10 points over those 21 games and a performance like that isn't likely to get him any consideration for Rookie of the Year. Doughty had this to say about his season so far and his thoughts on being a Wrangler.

It's frustrating for sure, but I knew what to expect when I was drafted. The Wranglers have a long history of winning and my mentor [Sachimo Zoidberg] has even won a Cup here, so I'm not too concerned about it. Parity is not something the VHL has been known for and it'll be a matter of time before we're on top and some other team is fighting to get a win. It is what it is, and as for the Rookie of the Year race, that's not something I'm concerning myself with. It's hard to win it as a defenseman and with all the big names in this draft year, I didn't have a chance to win. There's a couple D-men who could take it home this season, and it'd be cool to see someone in the fraternity take it home. I'm just plugging away at practice, trying to get some more time at the gym and all around trying to work on my game. We grow together as a team and it's good to see my teammate Kevin Jalopski putting in some work at practice. It's a long season and a career is a marathon, not a sprint, so I'm just plugging away at improving myself and hopefully I'll win a top Defenseman award one day.
